Oh boy, release pushed to December :/

What are we getting out of these Panda Tweets? Still at least two weeks away from a Nexus launch?

Panda mentioned that Verizon does in fact have the phone so that would mean they are sitting in VZW's warehouse waiting to be shipped out to stores. Sitting on inventory is a complete waste of money, everyday that you have inventory not selling taking up space is another day of lost profits. Two things that can be gathered from this. One, the phones are ready for the market (why would google send out the phones if there are phone break bugs in them?) and two, a hard launch is very very close. How close is up to VZW.

You are right, VZW could hold on to these phone for another two weeks and ship it out. To me, now this is speculation, that would mean that VZW wants to get as many people as possible to buy their other phones. My guess is that the loss incurred from keeping the Gnex in inventory does not outweigh the gain of having as many customers, including potential Gnex customers, buying a different device. But then again I know absolutely nothing about the inner workings of VZW and have no inside source to tell me whats up. There could be a phone breaking bug that VZW does not want to release, but given the amount of pressure that both Google and Samsung put on VZW, I'm gonna go with my first hypothesis.

I think the telling sign will be the European launch. If that goes as planned and the phone is released during the 17 - 25th time frame then I'm going to lay blame on VZW. The LTE argument just doesn't hold up to me.

Edit: Received this tweet from VZW:

@xRandomx I'm anxious too. At this time there has been no official release date released yet. ^JL

I think the twitter community has come out in full force which forced VZW to respond in some way.

I hate to speculate too much and i know this is no big deal, but Vzwupport on twitter has been answering a lot of questions about the Nexus/ telling people to keep an eye on Vzwnews. Theyve done it before but its been more rampant in the past few hours. At this point im doing the bad thing and trying to find a bright side to a bad situation haha.

From what I read from these tweets is, Verizon is stalling the launch. Even the Samsung Exec said on Fox Business last week it is now up to Verizon when they release it.

Verizon has to have a deal with Moto and HTC and will not release the Nexus until they have some time to sell. I am truly thinking now the Nexus isnt coming until first or second week of December.

Yeah unfortunately when Verizon said before years end, i knew December... but i really want to be wrong haha.

This is so funny...Verizon is not loosing any money leaving the gnex in a warehouse. They are just selling more of their bloat ridden phones for now. When they release the gnex (I still think it will be this week or the next), the same number of people that have been wanting it for the past 4 weeks will still go buy it and all their frustration will be instantly gone the second they touch the phone.

They aren't making any money either. Verizon is a company and they are about making money. What makes a difference if they release it now and the same people who are going to get it will get it and the rest will buy a rezound or razr. Just doesn't make sense to sit on inventory when they could be selling it making room for more bloat filled phones.

I'm calling BS. They're are only 2 possible answers here that pass the smell test.;

1) If there is a bug, it relates to the Verizon LTE technology. There have been major issues with LTE from the start, Verizon knows it, the manufactures know it and we know it. LTE doesn't play well with existing phone technology, battery usage, etc.. Since this is a pure Google phone, any bugs in the software would have stopped the release scheduled this week for other parts of the world. Verizon is the problem!

or

2) The sales & marketing hack in the ivory tower has a rather large digital counter on the wall of his office that keeps track of the Droid RAZR sales. As soon as the counter nears the inventory purchased and setting in warehouses, they will announce a firm date for GN.

This black friday will be my 3rd anniversary of my BB Storm and believe me it was far from being ready to release, even after numerous delays. So this BS that it hasn't passed testing is ridulous.

I will say this - they sure as hell aren't holding it back to do HTC any favors. I stopped into a VZW store today and they are clearly focusing all of their attention on the RAZR. Set ups everywhere, big displays - the Rezound was in the store, but set up like any other random phone. There was nothing to indicate it was its launch day or that it was a new phone.

That being said, the only reason I could see them holding the Nexus back now is for the RAZR's sake. Hopefully, it will get only a week in the sunlight and then we can all get some ICS goodness.

They do lose money by wharehousing phones they are not selling.....you pay taxes on inventory not to mention the actual wharehousing costs. I've seen places I've worked at throw away large quanities of perfectly good parts to get out of having them count towards inventory.......I've also seen the hide tons of stuff out of SAP so as to not pay.......in other words they are not going to sit on phones for very long. If they are in the wharehouse we will see them soon.

You could say the same thing about the thunderbolt. They pushed that with a ton of bugs, many of which they would not even acknowledge as actually existing.

Dammit dude. I swear, with every passing day, the Rezound looks better lol. JK but i did use a Rezound at work. It is an amazing phone. The build quality is the best ive ever felt. And the new sense is really nice. Especially since now i can remove homescreens. I WILL wait for the Nexus. But i honestly would have no problem just buying a Rezound and loading CM9(when released) on it and calling it a day. It's a sweet phone. In other news. The Razr is trash. I hate the build. Too much bezel, too wide, too thin.

Grain of salt time. I was on my VZW account looking into tethering and keeping my unlimited data (once I'm on 4G). I got in the chat session with support. Long story short after asking about tethering I asked about the Nexus and he said early December.

I like the look of the rezound also. If verizon keeps pushing off the nexus and giving us no date I may go that route. I mean it is already rooted, and bootloader unlocked so will get lots of love. Not to mention once you get rid of sense it will be blazing fast!

Take this for what you will. I was at the Verizon store obsessing over the latest and greatest. The Samsung rep was there and he said they were shooting for a Black Friday release of the Nexus. I still may go for the Rezound to tide me over until I can touch one!

The rep to my dismay had not one to demo... :-/

^ Never been a big fan of Phandroid, but I sure hope they're right. I just hope that by this Friday, we at least have a date. I don't see why it's so hard for VZW to just provide us with a date.

I agree. I mean I would be ok if they didn't release it until dec but gave us a date so everyone would know and not be hanging onto every rumor that comes around.
