Oh, good! Now burn-in might be a problem?

So... why don't they want a more natural look on the other Pixel2?
(I'm not bashing you - it's just inconsistent and darn odd)

The smaller Pixel is also set to sRGB. The main differences in color reproduction is down to the different screen manufacturers I think.

Now that's interesting. The smaller Pixel's screen really pops. The XL screen was gorgeous - way more than i expected, but next to the smaller one it was no contest.

It depends on what you like. I'm used to LCD screens so I'm not into the Samsung oversaturated look. I'm not knocking it for people who like it...just not my thing so I like the 2 XL.

Well, when i switch to sRGB on my Nexus6P it looks like garbage. Both of these Pixels look WAY better on that setting. Neither are overblown and ridiculous. Both are impressive, though the XL is way muted side by side. However, sitting alone I liked it. If my 2XL ends up living up to the ****-storm, I won't feel bad about downgrading to the smaller one at all.

I think those older panels that didn't run sRGB probably isn't up to par hence they over compensate to sell.

The Pixel 2 panel in sRGB looks better than 2016 Pixel in sRGB. That's the moment I realized this sRGB "issue" is overblown.

After roughly two days with Pixel I completely realize this is what I prefer, and my S6 and Pixel looked like cartoons in comparison.

I hear ya but I'm so used to larger screens so down sizing is an issue for me though the Pixel 2 is no slouch. The large bezels and smaller battery annoy me too. In addition the XL is a higher res screen.

I actually switched my XL1 to sRGB today to prepare for my XL2 arrival.

After almost a year of the standard setting, I actually like the sRGB more.

I just did the same. Less than five minutes later, I turned sRGB off. The white balance alone is far superior with it off.

There must be something in the water, because I did this earlier tonight as well, and changed it back almost immediately on my OG Pixel XL.

I think the point that's being missed is that people are reporting these problems so early in the product cycle. My 6P is 14 months old, I use it for navigating 2, 5-hour trips, every 6 weeks or so, bright enough to see it in the day, no burn-in, virtually no off-axis color shifting (much less, like wayyyy less) than this BRAND NEW OLED.

People have a tendency to be apologists for products they are invested in (as in we WANT the Pixel to work). I did. Ran to Verizon to see it, multiple times, had it on order for a week, until the accumulation of all the various defects being reported got me to the point where, clearly, there are QC issues that outweighed my desire to have it.

I'll buy it eventually, it is a killer phone afterall, but not until these reports subside or Google makes some kind of statement about corrective actions. A problem here or there on a new device is understandable, but for $900+ dollars, no way I'm gonna be a beta tester.

But I have yet to see a report that demonstrated the burn in in day to day, real life situations.

Deniers here remind me of how fans were when Apples bent and couldn't be held properly, and when Galaxies exploded.
The problem is real. Wake up! It may not appear on all 2XLs but consider the fact that only a few have actually landed on consumers' hands and we're already seeing a lot of complaints on the same issues - YouTubers, tech reviewers, and especially a considerable number of members in here.
Just waiting for Google to acknowledge these issues so everyone can move on.

It would be nice to lump all events into the same bucket but we don't know the extent of condition, if it will impact all models or just some that slipped through QC. There are much more than a few out there.

I agree there could possibly be an issue with early production or preproduction review units. But your sample size is way too small to claim that this is a widespread plague of an issue.

No worries people!

There will be a firmware update to calibrate the new display hardware!

LG V30 has identical (6" P-OLED Fullvision) display it's working fine!

A new firmware update and Android 8.1 Oreo OS the phone will be fine!

Android 8.1 was supposed to come with the phone!

It's visible on the home screen and anywhere the navigation bar is transparent. That's why my 2XL was dropped in the mail for a return today.

Add me to the list of no screen burn-ins on my Pixel 2 XL averaging 2.5 hours of use per day at 40% brightness (my preference) using a dark theme/wallpaper. NO burn-in at all and I pre-ordered mine on October 7th, delivered on the 19th. Total of about 15 hours use.

I do see the blue tint but it's a personal thing where this just doesn't bother me, 10k phone or 1k phone. What does tick me off a bit is the lack of color options...there is one ****ty dull option. (pardon my french there) Google will fix it so I am keeping this phone for four major reasons when compared to my Note 5: better camera, performance and battery life (BY FAR) along with the "pure android experience with continuous updates"

But are they more vibrant colored Oreo's? ;)
