On the GS6. What's more of a deal breaker for you, no removable battery or no SD card?

With a compatible wall charger, you can get 4 hours run time in 10 minutes.

Wireless charging won't be anywhere near that fast. Wireless charging is about at fast as connecting your phone to a PC USB port.

Not by much, takes some of them a while to get loaded, that's why I'd absolutely HATE doing battery swaps. Rather avoid it and just plug in a USB tank.

A phone reboot? My Note 4 takes .. 30 sec - 1 min? And I am back to doing what I wanted to do.

I just switched the battery out in my S5 about 10 min ago. It took less than 2 min to have everything back up and running again. I hate being tethered to my powerbanks. I won't have a choice soon though.

It all depends on what you have installed as far as programs, services, and widgets.
Yes, but swapping batteries shouldn't take 10 minutes long, even with the reboot. And even if it does, you'd still get at least another fresh 8+ hrs of battery life compared to 4 hrs. Like someone said, you're not tethered to a wire or stationed; you can carry that slim battery anywhere you go.😎

Is there a faster way to get 8+ of battery life?

Net? Yes. Because eventually you still have to tether yourself to the wall to charge that battery. Only in your case it's both those batteries, or more, and you have to do it sequentially. The effort involved before and after is too much of a pain. And it does nothing to help keep my tablet charged either. ;)

On the other hand, sticking a plug into a wall for 10 minutes gives you 4 hours of battery. Period. And another 10 minutes 4 hours later gives you four more hours. How much time do you spend charging and swapping even with only two batteries, in order to be able to do that swap? Gotta be more than 20 minutes, right?

If the second person to make automobiles didn't look at how the first person did it would we be better or worse off than we are today. Design inspires and frankly Apple has taken more than a few ideas from Android and put them into iOS. Its a rectangle, has rounded corners, made of metal and glass, sounds like every other premium phone out there.

Ha, maybe we are doing our math wrong here. I believe the fast charging for the new S6 yields 2 hrs, not 4 hrs in 10 minutes.

As mentioned, eversince I got a 2nd battery for my Note 4, I never have to charge my phone during the day ever again, except when driving. I always charge my phone overnight anyways, and when I get up the next morning, I have a fully charged phone of 8+ hrs with heavy use, and another 8+ hrs of fresh battery when needed. The routine starts all over again before I go to bed.

Charging my phone and/or battery overnight or in my car is not cumbersome at all, so whether it takes 20 minutes or so is irrelevant as I don't need to be mobile.

Re: S6 is the reason I'm ditching Samsung, after owning Fascinate/S2/Droid Charge/S3/Note 2/Note 3/S

I hadn't seen that yet.
Perfect!

Samsung makes some pretty good commercials.

By the way, here's an interesting article on Lollipop and SD cards:

Android Police -- Android 5.0 Makes SD Cards Great Again, Extends API To Allow Full Directory Access, Automatic MediaStore, And Improves Security (article link)

From the article:

"Power users will no longer have to deal with crippled file managers, media apps will have convenient access to everything they should regardless of storage location, and developers won't have to rely on messy hacks to work around the restrictions. Of course, these features are still specifically a part of Android 5.0 (and above), so it'll be a while until these benefits can truly materialize. At least we can all rest easy knowing that the future of Android does not involve dooming the SD card to obscurity – it's actually balancing usability and security."

Am I the only one who thinks it resembles the iPhones a bit?

I don't think it does. The bottom reminds me of an old Nokia phone, the frame edges remind me of the old Samsung Ativ from 2013, and the back is too shiny, and the front looks like the S4 and S5.

Then of course we have the S6 Edge that looks totally different than any other phones past and present.

I agree with Sammuel. 👆

Actually you read something wrong somewhere. Per Samsung's own site. You get 4 Hours of use in a 10 minute charge, enough for 2 hours of Video.

Next is smarter charging
When you're on the go and short on time, fear not - the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge feature the ability to fast charge your battery - letting you watch 2 hours of HD video from just 10 minutes charging.
And with their built-in wireless charging capabilities, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge offer you all the convenience of charging without the need to plug in1 - ensuring you’re always powered and ready for what's next.
Fast charge
10mins = 4hr use Wireless charge
No need to plug in

Going back to the OP... both. Neither is bigger than the other, but both are huge.

I have a Galaxy S4 on Verizon.

I have three batteries now (by a fluke, though... I bought a separate battery charger via Amazon, but completely forgot that a battery came with it, so I also bought a battery at my local Verizon store, and never bothered to return it). Two are always fully charged, ready to go. I don't usually need to replace the battery. It happens once per week, sometimes less than that. But if I do, I will replace my battery once during a day, or twice depending on how much I'm using the phone. I never reach a point where there isn't a charged battery in my phone, however. I am able to use my phone until I can plug it in, even if it means the battery that's in my phone if I plug it in is the third one. I've seen the wrieless charging things, and I'd frankly rather have an extra battery or two on me. Not being able to swap out the battery is not okay.

In terms of the SD card... my phone has 16gb internal memory. It's basically full (I have, and use, a lot of apps). I also have a 64gb microSD card. It's also basically full (on top of the apps I have stored on it, I also have a lot of music, podcasts, books, pictures, and [short] videos). I have around 80gbs of combined storage and it's nowhere near enough. 128gb might be enough, but I don't know. I'm not willing to sacrifice that, however. Unless they're willing to give Verizon access to a 128gb capacity S6, not having the ability to increase the storage is a deal-breaker for me.

I love Samsung's Galaxy line. But I hope they realize, sooner rather than later, the mistake they made in removing the microSD card slot and the ability to replace the battery. Samsung is going full Apple. Never go full Apple. :p

My Galaxy S4 was only 19 months old when it needed it's 3rd replacement battery( granted one was under guarantee), it was at the stage that a full charge was lasting 3-5 maybe 6 hours. And now samsung want to convince me to send it away and be without it, I'm sorry but they're argument of simple battery replacement when the old one finally dies is what converted me back when I got an S2. It seems (for the future) they're more interested in getting us to change phones rather than hold onto a great, albeit older one by just replacing the battery. :-$

I just this morning ordered another Samsung battery for my S4. This will be my fourth battery. The others work but have been charged and recharged so much due to using the S4... hard... it's nice to get a fresh battery in the mix.

Tell me Samsung... how am I supposed to do this simple swap out with the S6?

My 'O my... Samsung. .. how you have become a clone of Apple!
