OnePlus 8 Event enough to make you switch?

That's the worst article ever one could come up with.

Not surprising since I have never heard of that site. Taking the word of clueless support chat to say OnePlus confirmed

That's not official OnePlus statement.

Also, not saying the issue isn't there. I personally made a post in reddit comparing various phones and how the 8 pro screen is not in the same quality as S20 Ultra or 11 pro max at low brightness in dark room. But there is no official confirmation from OnePlus PR saying this is hardware defect. Their stance is not to say anything and just that future updates will improve it (which no one should ever trust any company).

I've seen the same report on reputable sites as well.

Haven't seen on Verge, Android central, Android police and the usual standard Android websites, but either way I haven't seen official statement from OnePlus saying it's hardware defect. It's only from support chat and we will all know how much info they have. OnePlus is going to come out and openly admit yeah we have a hardware defect and buy our $1000 phone, as usual they will issue a standard we are investigating and software updates will address it.

I could literally make thousands of articles if I were to take info from chatting with support seriously, if you keep pressing them they will say anything to get you off their back

I'm actually going back and trying to find where I saw a similar article. Now I can't seem to find it, of course. Now I'm thinking it may have been something that showed up in my Google Feed, so who knows what the source was. I may have just misspoke earlier about it being a trusted source. Oopsie, my bad. LOL

so Android Authority isnt reliable for you guys???
No since official statement means blog post from OnePlus or OnePlus PR issuing a statement to any of the tech bloggers or YouTubers. Common sense suggests that what support chat says is not an official statement. For one they are clueless and they are not in a position to make those kind of statements.

But more known websites making these posts are kind of good since that will force OnePlus PR to issue an official statement about this.

All I know is that the OP8pro I had didn't have any screen defects. I did return mine but it was with much reluctance as I had to weigh s20+ for 18.54 a month or OP8pro for 45.00 a month. With the Vivid crap this was a no brainer.

I don't understand the price argument. It really doesn't make any sense. The 8 Pro is spec'd out $999 beating out ANY phone in that price range. 300$ less than the s20+ which is its closest competitor. $500 less than s20 ultra. And the S line has terrible focusing issues. The price hike is the same amount across the board due to the new processor containing 5G. For the price, its probably the best phone out. Can anyone explain this to me?

Naw, lack of AT&T support is why I don't get OnePlus devices. They are nice tho. I'll wait for the Note 20 amd hopefully the rumors are true with an under display front camera.
Lack of ATT? It has all bands but one according to their site and the one that's missing isn't really used. What are they missing in ATT? I just got my 8 pro today so help me out in case I need to send it back please!

Really glad I read this. I'm an AT&T customer and felt bad when the 8 Pro was released. Love my S20 Ultra though.
Got my 8 pro today. Everything works fine on ATT. Only missing one band that isn't used anymore. I don't see an option on the oneplus for HD voice or wifi calling. That wouldn't have anything to do with ATT though.

I saw a couple people saying they had trouble with ATT on their Oneplus. I never had any issues with my OnePlus 5, Oneplus 7 Pro or OnePlus 7t Pro on ATT.

That being said, I am holding on to my 7t Pro Until I can get another top tier phone without a whole or notch in the screen
Got my 8 pro today and have no issues so far on ATT.

If you have the S20 series, from my personal opinion the S20 series is better than OnePlus 8 Pro. Between the Ultra and 8 Pro, I'm liking using the Ultra more everyday. The ultra just feels more polished overall, the premium feel, hardware and software, even the screen. Both the 11 pro max and Ultra I can feel using them daily it's on a slightly next tier compared to 8 pro. It's kind of hard to explain, may be the curved screen on 8 Pro is turning me off too much I don't know. But if you have the S20 series I think the 8 Pro is slight downgrade even though I love Oxygen OS and they have addressed my complaints of missing wireless charging, improved the camera etc. I'm seriously debating if I want to keep the 8 pro or send it back.

PS: Yes I know 8 Pro costs less that Ultra or 11 pro max but the same arguments apply for S20+ vs 8 Pro and the current S20+ price is same as 8 Pro in the US.
I had the ultra and the 20+ and turned them both. Nowhere near worth the money they cost. I got the 8 Pro and it is spec'd better for less and the oxygen OS is really great. Samsung unfortunately blew it with the S20 line and sales are in the can. Hopefully the note 20 is a redeemer.

Lack of Att services like WiFi Calling, HDVoice, Advanced SMS, etc.

* $200 less then 20+ and $300 less then Ultra

Personally both my S20 Ultra and iPhone 11 Pro max felt like it's a step above in terms of overall build, feel, screen etc. Especially given the S20+ was on sale for most of last month at $999, between that and OnePlus 8 pro at $899/$999 I think it's an easy decision going with S20+ in my opinion. Overall better display when I compared between my 8 pro and Ultra, better software update support in terms of security update, better carrier support and band support even on the US Unlocked S20+ including mmwave on Verizon. So S20+/OP8 pro I think S20+ is better, but compared to Ultra sure you can save a lot of money and may be 8 pro is better in terms of value.

Finally that curved screen on OnePlus 8 pro was just too much for me. Even Samsung phones have almost flat screen now. Curved screens please just die

Obviously oxygen OS is great and it'll come down to what you like. If you think OnePlus 8 pro provides better value and a better device than S20 series then that's good for you and enjoy the 8 pro. Now a days they all are good to an extent and it comes down to what you prefer.

Samsung has to many features, so I can't switch to any other Android phone.
Unless OnePlus gets smart calling Spam protection and smart select.
