The possibility of getting it before stores and having one reserved in the event stores don't have enough or any. For instance, iPhone preorders each year don't come before the actual release date. But you realize the benefit when there's a 2-3 week wait (or longer) to get one if you didn't preorder or able to snatch one from a store or release date.

Hi there,

I'll tell ya what it gets you, it gets you a phone. 2 years ago when the Droid X came out, My wife pre ordered hers and got hers.. I had to wait until I got paid before I could get mine. So her phone arrived and that following friday I got paid, went to the store and they had nothing in stock. They checked every other store here on Long Island and nothing was in stock.. I ended up waiting almost a month before I could get one. Everything was that back ordered. I learned then.. preorder !!!

They had it in their Sunday ads for weeks as "coming soon" and even took deposits for it.......and then cut the ad, quit taking deposits, and returned deposits, but only after leading us all to believe it was launching any day......for nearly 2 months.....LOL. it created havoc on the forums, especially Verizon's forum.

Nightmare....I posted it in another thread, but here you go, this was my take on it

This is what I can remember with the Tbolt...they refused to give an official date..and they weren't even taken pre orders for the longest time..

I remember there were batches of rumors that it was gonna be early February. Best Buy started taking pre orders on Feb 6 or somewhere around there WITHOUT knowing when it was coming out or even the PRICE. I remember going to Verizon store and they didn't even know BB was taking pre orders. Still had no idea on price or time table going into late February.

OH, and Best Buy was advertising that the phone was being released and able to buy around Feb 21 (i remember this because I was supposed to go on a cruise that Thursday) they were like yea, it's coming out this week! Pre Order now! Never came

This is why I will never buy or listen to what BB people said, I remember a bunch of people pre ordering the phone thinking they were getting it then because that's what their invoice/ticket said, and day came and went without a phone...didn't update people til after the day
