Optimizing G4 battery thread

Who is your carrier? Let us know your APN settings..say.. thats an idea for a new thread/sticky!

Haha mine are -- https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-2090#subhead1

Definitely... I didn't realize there was 'fixin to do!

You probably don't need to if you're getting 4G (LTE) -- My SIM card just had the older APN settings for T-Mobile so it was only looking at HSPA. Once I swapped it over it went to LTE :).

See? There you go! ATT gave me a nice new SIM card when I traded in my Moto X. None of this APN programming stuff... ;)

Haha I don't mind. I know their APN settings sadly .. more than I should ^_^.

I'm running my own test on the battery. Just seeing how far the battery will go with my normal use. Currently at 26% and the results are great. I will post screen shots later once the battery really gets low. I love this phone so far!

One thing I've learned from this forum is that you should charge your phone at around 40%... not lower. This will extend the life of your battery.

Ok, got the other way figured out.
Download Quick shortcut maker on the play store.
Open it, change 'incremental search' to ' normal search' and search for Access.
You should get a Settings option that you can expand. Look for one labeled Access Lock and click on it.
You can then try to see if it works out just make the shortcut.

honestly my battery has been terrible since I did this. haha

Lithium-ion is a low maintenance battery, an advantage that most other chemistries cannot claim. There is no memory and no scheduled cycling is required to prolong the battery's life

As it stands I'm happy, could be better & Will be when development progresses 😀

no clue.. I did uncheck keep awake too.. so I checked all those and kept location off. I'll see what happens next full charge. My battery lasted the least it's ever lasted though, by like 6 hours.

That's crazy. I went thru all my apps last night and made even more changes. Not seeing anything to negatively effect battery life.

I'm no expert, and that makes sense. I just know there's been a few people saying that going too low consistently will harm the battery. I'm glad that that's not the case; just one less thing to worry about :)

I haven't had to do a thing to optimize the battery life on my G4. When I had my S6, I had to cripple the thing (turning off wifi, email auto sync, turning down screen brightness, etc), whereas my G4 isn't crippled. My battery on the G4 is at ~50% by the time I go to bed after taking it off the charger at ~7 am.

Excellent, good to hear. Are you using auto-brightness?

Yes, one less thing to worry about. Li-ion batteries are prone to degeneration. So battery life will diminish over time. Expect at least 2-3yr lifespan.

Well, i can't complain. My phone is very consistent at this point.

Same settings except i turned Bluetooth off today since its having issues with my microsoft band.

Clearly my VPN is a battery hog but that's ok.

You would think i would use my phone less after picking up a Surface 3 today but nah, the phone is that good.

I haven't been able to find sync time periods. That's what I thought everyone was talking about, but all I can do is turn different syncing accounts on or off.. Which I'm sure everyone can do, but maybe not.
