I received an email from Verizon at 5:24 today saying my order was shipped out of Memphis Tn by Fedex and will arrive at 4:30 on Thursday July 5th. They also provided a tracking number.
 
I just had a online chat with a rep. He verified that my card info was good. He said the reason for the hold email was because the shipping date was postponed by Verizon and Samsung until the 10th. I said people are getting theirs shipped already how is that? He said it depends on when you accepted the terms and conditions. Since I ordered over the phone I didn't get to accept mine until the next day via an email. This bumped me down the list and is why my shipping date has changed. Sucks I wanted my phone Friday. I will be traveling Monday through Wednesday next week so my phone will be sitting at home without me I guess.

Pre order for this phone cannot be charged to your account. Only credit card.

That is weird, especially considering my Rezound cost $100 more at launch and I was able too! I guess they are worried to many ppl will charge their account and not pay???!!! Not a big deal really, just thought it was weird! I plan on buying it next Wednesday when it comes out!

I tried this option by contacting customer service on 6/6. She wasn't aware that for this phone, credit card only. We spent a good 30 minutes trying to do it but at the end, I still had to provide my credit card.

i called verizon and they said credit card did not go through that is ehy i got the your phone is on hold email so i put new credit card and now status says your order is in process payment has not been taken yet. Shipping date not available what does this mean now for me.

I think most (or all) of us who got this on hold email ordered on 6/6. Before your order is ship, they attempt to do a charge to your card. And if there is any issues, they put your order on hold. Therefore, for those of us who got this on hold email, our order could have been shipped on July 3rd.

Weird they've charged my card but I have not received any emails and my ship date still says 7/9/12.

It takes a while after they charge your card for the next steps to happen. My card was charged last night around 8PM but I didn't get a tracking number email until this morning.
 
I ordered the phone a total of 3 times and all three times the phone order was canceled. Their "help desk" tickets were not even touched. It has a been a big mess dealing with it, so I have decided to say screw it and wait for the phone to release and then wait and see what the actual reviews say about this phone. F VZW though, bunch of incompetent people. The only thing I did get out of it was a 30 dollar credit.

hmm... i think that's better. :)

Did Verizon stop letting ppl credit their account online? Or just with preorders?? Cause I went to try and do that and though the option was there for all my previous phones (last one was in November) it was not there this time!

From what I read on this site when people first starting ordering in June, you can't charge a pre-order to your account. Must use a credit card. And don't use Am Ex. They decline online cell phone orders!

'At launch' is not the same as 'pre-order'.

I'm surprised that you actually got a shipping notice this morning. I thought today is a holiday. Did they actually shipped yesterday and you just got the email this morning? Or they actually shipped out this morning?

They didn't decline mine. I had no problems at all with AmEx.

i got a notice that mine 'shipped', but no tracking #....said it will ship by Monday, so I'm hoping that it ships tomorrow....had to talk to a couple of agents though to make sure it was actually going to be released, since they had a lot of issues on their end with charges being 'declined' (when in fact nothing was actually submitted).

WELL....I ordered my GS3 the frist day available same as OP. I called several times to ensure I was all set up and I could keep my unlimited plan, SEVERAL times. I called as soon as I didnt get the confirmation email, they said dont worry you will get your email once it ships. I waited and waited, nothing, so I called last night to ensure I was still all set up. NEGATIVE, I did not even have a pre-order!!! Some one messed up the day I pre ordered my phone and entered in the wrong cvc code (thats three simple digits, beats me how he can screw that up). So I had to order mine yesterday and who knows when I will be getting my phone and now because of this mess up, I might loose my unlimited data. Well I can say one thing, I loose my unlimited data I will take my business elsewhere. VERY DISAPPOINTING VERIZON!!!!!!

I had similar history as everyone else. Put in a pre-order about 7:20am EST June 6 for three 32GB phones (two blue, one white). Credit card company denied the charge but fraud department never called to ask whether the charge was legit.

I was able to get a CSR to resubmit the charge last night around 7pm PST and verified with the credit card company that they accepted it this time. The CSR said she though the phone would ship out on Thursday. At 5:24am PST I received the following email:

What does all this mean exactly? Will my order ship out on Thursday or did it go out already?

EDIT: Just talked to internet order CSR and he said to expect a second email within 24 hours with the tracking information.

EDIT2: Received email at 8:33am PST saying wife's 32GB white S3 has shipped that I ordered on June 12th for her on the same credit card. So my disaster on the three phone order allowed her later single phone order to go through without a hitch. Irony!!
