[OTA][9/21] Official Jelly Bean JRO03O for the Verizon GNex

Ive got no problem with the flashing of the ROM but I did have a question about the rooting.

Now that I'm on 4.1.1, can I root?

Of course you can! Simply download this file, place it on your phone, reboot into recovery and flash it. When your phone reboots, update the binary. Then, go to the Play Store and update the app itself--SuperSU. You can also try this superuser zip--Superuser 3.1.3.

The binary, how does one update that and is there e benefit of the superuser zip. Im already unlocked and rooted.

The Superuser zip has both the binary and the Superuser app. You need the superuser app to update the binary and essentially "use" it, i.e. through granting permissions to different apps.

So how do you "update the binary" ?

EDIT: Nevermind.. im a complete moron.

Ok so I followed your steps to the T (AWESOME TUTORIAL). Everything came out fine. However, after flashing the zip, I did not lose my root. I still have SU app and root access. Im not complaining because thats one less step I do not have to do, but I just wanted to make sure I hadnt fudged something up.

I have been using the unofficial update (THANKS DMMARCK!) for a little less than two weeks now and it has been great. I was fully intending to go back to stock and take the official update when it came out, but being emboldened by my success so far I am thinking of rooting and trying out a custom ROM. :) I am just not sure which one to try out first...

Everything went perfectly, except now I can't flash into recovery to re-root my phone. When I try, I get the laying down Andriod icon with the red "X" and I have to pull the battery to re boot.

Your recovery probably reverted. Needs to be flashed again.

Got mine all installed and and rooted again. Looks like it over wrote CWM so I just used Wugs Toolkit to re-root and install CWM. Worked like a charm.

Let me make sure I understand this right, I'm currently on IMM76K, that means I can't go straight to the OTA update file? I need to update to IIM76Q first? Thanks

Probably same build but with Verizon adaptations.
