[OTA][9/21] Official Jelly Bean JRO03O for the Verizon GNex

Re: [OTA] Semi-Official Jelly Bean JRO03O for the Verizon GNex

Is it a ROM or still an update? If the latter, don't wipe system.

it is whatever you linked too earlier in this thread, the one that stupid life has, so I think it is an update, I did not get this until now, so needles to say, I already wiped everything, system included. everything seems to be working fine, except for I did loose root access, even tho after flashing before rebooting it asked me if I wanted to fix root and I said yes, but it did not fix it, Will wugs work to re root?

lol a lot of questions there. You may be able to use your old one, but I doubt it. Download that zip. Either from the phone or to a computer and transfer it. Flash it in recovery. Go to the app and start hunting around for an update button.

it did indeed, I'm rooted again. so I just wanted to say, that if you use the download from droid life, then you don't have to go thru all the imm76 stuff I simply went in and wiped everything including/ system and flashed, it's all working great so far. I'll be sure to post if anything happens to go awry. thank you again for all the help, soon I might actually know what I'm doing lol.... hey do you know of any good walk thru for jail breaking iPhone 3gs?

oh. hey, I was wondering how I can get the camera whatever from the galaxy s3 that lets you take stills while taking video, like I am taking video, but I want a pic of what I'm recording so I just hit a button and it will take a still but continue to record... have you ever heard of something like that? and if so do you know how I can get it on my GNEX.

It actually comes stock on ics ... it's just advertised on those phones for some reason. While recording tap the screen it'll take a photo I believe.

yup just tested it..didnt know that worked :)

its weird it wont really let you know you took a pic the screen boarder will turn red and thats it. I took 24 pics during the video and didnt really notice until I went to go delete the video and had all those pics in my gallery :P

Thanks!

Re: [OTA] Semi-Official Jelly Bean JRO03O for the Verizon GNex

why is that lol? is it a bad idea, or just bad for you?

It's needlessly complicated, and while it gives you some advantages, finding something useful in the Cydia market is next to impossible.

Re: [OTA] Semi-Official Jelly Bean JRO03O for the Verizon GNex

This might be a noob question. I haven't rooted my Nexus (just stuck with verison updates) and was looking into getting this partial jelly bean update. I am getting conflicting reports though. This site claims you need to go back to stock and then proceed however there are instructions from Jelly Bean For Verizon Galaxy Nexus Available As Flashable ZIP | | DroidDog Android BlogDroidDog Android Blog saying I can just update. Is this a modded version of the jellybean update or are the instructions just incorrect?

That's a modified version to make it like a "rom."

The version in the OP/thread here is the actual update.

OK...so what does that mean? Is this the same update only with an easier install process? What are the pros and cons of this approach?

It's easier. You treat it like a rom, not an update--so you wipe everything fully (instead of just wiping cache or not wiping anything at all). You don't need to be on a certain version of ICS or whatever to flash it--just flash it on whatever you're on.

For roms (and any of this), I strongly recommend reading my Don't Panic guide before getting deep into the process :).
