OTA link

I just keep getting the failed message.. Is it not as easy as dropping the renamed "update.zip" on the SD card? I figured the instructions were too easy to follow.

finally got my phone to turn on, but has so many issues, FC everything, error on wifi, wont connect to vzw signal. i think I'm going to have to whipe and start from sratch

No, no, no, you don't need to root to upgrade to the 2.2 OTA.

I hate to say it, but reading a little will take you a long way.

I'm at work and didn't have time to try to read through all 33 pages of the thread (on top of that, I'm new to the forum and don't know if there's an instructional thread on the board regarding this).

Thanks for the prompt response.

So what happens when VZN gets around to pushing the update OTA? I would like to believe their push would be intelligent enough to determine if the phone has been updated already. ???

I'm currently running the leaked 2.2 froyo with 2.05 radio. I've downloaded and put the OTA update.zip on my sd root directory and booted into clockwork recovery. When I tell it to apply update.zip it starts, the screen flashes, then i'm instantly back to the main screen for clockwork recovery, as if nothing happened.

Any suggestions?

You'll need to use the stock ROM see below:

How about the first post? There's a link to instructions. ;)

OTA Link Works perfectly

The Baseband and Software/Build Numbers match the Verizon Wireless pdf file on their website - indicating to me that the version available here is exactly as advertised.

The install does give you a cliffhanger moment when the new bootscreen shows the droid eye and then just sits there for several minutes. But then it goes just as described in the prior message and all is well.

The first thing it said was I need the 2.1 ota installed to update to the listed froyo. It also instructed to unroot the phone to downgrade it, which I was trying to avoid doing both and simply updating my phone(since version number and baseband number aren't up to date.) Is the only way for me to upgrade from the leaked version to downgrade/wipe my phone?

i cant get it to boot the update.zip. its in my /sdcard directory, but gives me an error message saying it cant find the file.

E: failed to open /sdcard/update.zip (no such file or directory)
E: signature verification failed.
Installation aborted.

I've done this before with another android back in the day for cupcake, so I dont understand why it isnt working.

I thought everything was fine, but received error message:

Can't open/cache/recovery/command
Verifying update package

E: failed to read data from/sd card/update.zip (i/o error)
E: system verification failed
Installation aborted.

Any ideas? I think I may have pressed a wrong button on the procedure the first time and received the "Can't open/cache/recovery/command

Have tried twice and same success. HELP and THANKS.

The "Can't open/cache/recovery/command" is not a problem, I got the same thing and others have as well, upgrade still went smooth. The problem is not reading from the SD Card.

The last time I ran into a problem like that while flashing a new ROM, it turns it it was just my sd card being the problem and I ended up having to reformat it and try again...everything worked fine.

OMG!! It worked!!

I am an android newbie for about a whopping 2 weeks. I have had many blackberry's and installed hybrid OS on them all the time, but this android stuff is like a foreign language to me right now.

After reading every post in this thread multiple times, I finally decided to "grow some" and go for it.

I followed the directions as outlined and within 15 minutes was up and running Froyo with zero problems! Flash even works great on youtube and espn.

Great to see these forums have so many experts willing to help everyone out!!

Kudos!!

whipe data/ factory reset didnt help, still keeps rebooting every 5min. any suggestions? it cant read my sd card, says unavailable for both sd and internal memory, i tried connecting phone to comp and doesnt read either storage either, help! lol

The update worked for me also.

To this poster here are the details on how to do this:
...

You, sir, are awesome. This Froyo is mighty tasty.

The audio coming out of Adobe Flash 10.1 is a problem though; voices sound (as someone else put it) "possessed"

I must have done something very wrong.

I get a bunch of forced closes. I did a factory reset and I am still getting them.

The phone can no longer see my microsd card.
