OTA link

Thanks for the file, and the instructions...

Only trouble I seem to be having is I cannot log into Twitter using the stock Twitter app, Peep, or FriendStream. Bizarre. Tweetcaster is working fine, Tweetdeck as well.

For some reason when I go to apply update.zip in the recovery menu, it errors out with a (Status 7) error. I'm not rooted and I am saving it as the right file name and in the right spot of the SD card. I've done this before but idk whats going on. Any thoughts?

go to my previous post, explains what you need to do to fix it.

Can someone please confirm with a screen shot that this OTA is definately the same as the RUU. I have yet to see it posted. I just want positive confirmation. Please forgive me if someone has already posted one but I haven't seen it and I've been searching everywhere. The blog about the update shows a picture with a different screen shot of a build/version. If it's out there please provide the link. Thank you.

Any thoughts?

I have unrevoked and unrevoked forever, s-off.

Never flashed a rom. I have changed the kernel.

I tried to install the update. I get this.
...
Verifying current system...
assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/etc/firmware/fw_bcm4329.bin", "bunch of numbers", "bunch more numbers")
E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(Status 7)
Installathing aborted.

So then I tried to install PB31img.zip

I get:
...
Opening update package...
E:Can't open /sdcard/pb31img.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted.

I literally don't even know what else to try.

Please help. Thanks.:(

connect to a wireless n AP, then go to the wireless connections list. when you click on it, it will show properties. if it's more than 54mbps, then it's connected on wireless n.

Mine won't install

I get the following:

E: Can't open /cache/recovery/command

-----------------------

Of note:

My phone was rooted, and had Skyraider rom 2.52 w/sense. Once I saw the OTA was coming out I downgraded back to a stock image (no root). Wondering if those that are having this issue also had rooted at some point???

At this point I can't get the OTA to load.

The update worked for me also.

To this poster here are the details on how to do this:

First download the file which you find in this thread. It will go wherever you save it. Save it to your desktop on your computer. Do NOT unzip the file on your computer. Leave it exactly as it is on your desktop.

next...

Plug your phone into your computer. Click your SD card. Drag the file that you downloaded into your SD card. Not in any of the folders you have created on your SD card. Drag it as if it's an entirely new folder.

next...

Rename the file, you can do this on your computer. After you dragged it right click it and rename it. If you have extensions hidden it will not show .zip. In which case it will just have the file name with no .zip at the end of it. So just name it, "update." If you do have extensions showing then make sure it says, "update.zip." Again, if you don't have the extensions to files already showing, meaning if it doesn't already say .zip then don't add .zip too it.

next...

Power your phone off. Once off, hold the volume DOWN button down and press power at the same time and wait for it to power on. Once powered on you will see a boot screen. Scroll down to recovery with your volume rocker and hit the power button to select it.

next...

You will get a blank screen with a red triangle. At this point hold the volume UP button and press the power button at the same time. Now it will appear where it says something in the nature of putting on, "update.zip." Scroll down with your volume rocker and push the power button to select this.

next...

It will install. After done installing it will bring you to the screen it was previously on. But this time do not make the same selection. Select, "Reboot phone." Push the power button to select it.

now...

It will install and reboot your phone. It may take a few minutes. Once the droid eye screen comes up it will remain there for a few seconds. Do not freak out. It is fine. This is a good link and it is not buggy.

then...

Your phone will turn on as usual. You will have all of your apps, all of your settings, all of your ringtones set, the same wallpaper set, everything exactly as before. You will notice some changes they made to text messaging, changing the keyboard and many other things. As well as speed.

Any problems?

With me I have run into no problems at all. The clock and weather are working fine and so is every app I've tried. I've deleted Advanced Task Killer, it doesn't have much use these days anyway it doesn't sound like but especially not with 2.2. If you kill apps within a minute later all of them almost will be back and running unlike 2.1 where they would stay gone a little longer.

The signal bar has been changed for a fact. I am getting full signal bars in my apartment where as on 2.1 I never did and the bars are staying full. The service is probably no different but they fixed the way it reads the service with the bars to be more accurate.

Anymore questions then ask. I have never done anything of this sort myself until tonight. It took me a little while. The mistake I made first was unzipping the file on my computer and then dragging it to the card and renaming it. Don't unzip the file. Don't touch the file in anyway on your computer until it is on your card and then you only need to rename it.

It is also important to know if you have extensions hidden or not. If you do not see .zip on the end of the file then they are hidden. So do not name it, "update.zip" Or else it will end up being, "update.zip.zip." Simply name it, "update," if this is the case.

these directions made it so easy for me...

I was having the same issue but I used this update.zip first (it upgrades you to 1.22.605.2) [FOUND] OTA Update Link! - xda-developers

Its just one of those things ...

Same here... Peep saying incorrect password... Touiteur working fine...

To those having errors -- are you downloading directly on the phone then moving/renaming the file with Astro or another file manager? I just saw another Dinc that got the errors described by teamberkey and others -- the user DL'd the file straight to the phone and moved/renamed with Astro. When he then dl'd the file to a PC and renamed it on the PC (making sure file extensions are visible) then moved to to the SD card, the install worked.

I fixed my issues with the above mentioned fix.

Great thread - I now have Froyo. Is anyone else seeing a change in the calendar app? When I see a list of my events and click on one, so the details screen is open for that one event, there is no longer an "edit" option. I have to reverse back to the list of events, and long press on that event to get the Edit option.

Also: now when I connect my phone to my pc via USB cable, I get an auto pop-up on my PC about Vcast Media Manager - every time. So annoying! And it no longer shows my SD card in Windows Explorer, it just shows "Verizon Mobile (E:) and when I click on that drive it only has a couple things listed, which look like are causing the auto pop-up for Vcast. How can I get rid of this?

Thanks for the manual update but a question

The manual update to 2.2 was easy. Thank you. I do have a question. Why is my home screen the same? I have seen pictures of a different home screen.

Android version 2.2
Baseband version 2.15.00.07.28
Software number 3.21.605.1

Everything else looks good. Definitely faster.

Thank you in advance for any help on the home screen.

IM new to this method

I download the file, put on the sdcard did the instructions to the t works great for me. I put the instructions on the vz community and got alot of comments that said that if i did this install that i wouldn't get further update in the future. Is this a true statement or they blowing smoke up you know what?
