OTA link

Read all the pages in this thread, didn't see anyone ask this - do I NEED to have an SD card? It's the only valid location for the zip file? In Astro I see a directory names SDcard but im sure I don't have the card installed.

yea....made sure. I am showing extentions even went in and took the .zip off
no joy........ Thank you for responding.

Did you DL the file again? You may have a corrupted download. We don't have an MD5 hash to verify, so your best bet is to just try the DL again (I can't pull the hash for you as I'm at work).

I think this is not working for me because I'm rooted with unrevoked. Anyone know if this is true?

I'm in the same boat. I downloaded it and applied it, but now I'm in an infinite loop where the phone says Droid and shows the red eye and then goes to the HTC splash screen where it counts up to 100% (around 16% it says: "Sorry! Process system is not responding." - I ALWAYS choose Wait). Once it gets to 100% the phone reboots and the cycle repeats.

Ditto! Logan, the only way you could have made it easier would be if you came to my house and did it for me!

Me three! Thanks guys, you've made a lot of people happy campers this morning! ;-) Instructions were flawless!

redownloaded and double checked name. even tried capitalizing Update.zip. tried with update.zip and update.zip.zip (wont even find this one).

Just try naming it "update" because if your using a Windows computer it will add the zip for you. So where ever you have this file on your computer it should just have the name update.

All done. Install went great. Running 2.2 now. Maybe this will turn out to be a great day after all.

Quick question.....Can I delete the "update.zip" file from the SD card? I know it seems stupid, but I like things to be as "clean" and "uncluttered" as possible.

Thanks!!

IF YOU ARE ROOTED THIS WILL NOT WORK. Unrevoked = ClockwordMod Recovery. You must have the STOCK recovery installed to apply the OTA update.

I thought maybe the 3rd time would be the charm.....no luck I did download with chrome....shouldn't have made a difference. Download size is 95,918kb.

Should have said downloaded 3 times.

Is this the very exact same software upgrade as the RUU that was "discovered" last week? I have that on my phone and the only thing that happened is that the App Market doesn't recognize any of my prior downloads that I backed up and reinstalled, and the App Market is the same as on 2.1 (not the new and improved version). Other than that everything is working fantastic.

Please! Someone answer this for me (and probably a few other noobs). The suspense is killing me.;)

If I've never rooted, does this mean that I have stock recovery? I am using launchers and stuff but that doesn't entail rooting, if I'm not mistaken.

Sorry, I know this is a noobish question, and I feel like I've asked it before, but I do want to know.

I downloaded it and everything worked perfectly. Or seemed to work perfectly. Every time I connect to the Internet the page loads (much faster now) and after a second or two the page disappears and it goes back to my home page. Any suggestions or help?

Any recommendations for getting swype to work with froyo? I uninstalled, and reinstalled, but still does not work.

Incredible Update.zip Works Great

Just updated my Incredible to Froyo using the update.zip and the installation instructions for Nexus One provided via the above link and all is well. Just be patient and you should have no problems. I copied the file to the SD card using the Bluetooth File Transfer app found in the Market.

Nice surprise, although I must say that the update is not really such a big deal for me. The biggest thing I was looking for was the ability to use it as a wifi hotspot, but that requires an extra $20/month from Verizon with a 2GB monthly limit. I'll continue to use PDAnet when I need to tether. It's free and works with no additional data plan, other than the standard $30 plan we all have with our Droids. This only supports USB tethering on a single machine, but it works very well.

I wonder when someone will crack the wifi hotspot app to work around this requirement that I pay the additional $20? I'm not rooted, but maybe that's what I'd need to do? Anyone know?
