Ouch!

No translation needed and thanking you for making my point. The camera is iffy in well lit conditions.

Your conclusion seems to come more from a preconceived notion that you had about the camera because of its lower megapixel count, and thus reading the review in such a way to support that notion, than to be actually supported by what the review says.

The AC review was the first full review I read of this phone, and I was interested in it largely for the stuff about the camera, because basically everything else I knew I liked. I didn't come away from the review with the same conclusion you did, I came away from the review thinking basically what I thought from the beginning. Because of the smaller megapixel count, if you really zoom in on the pictures and stuff, you will certainly lose a lot of quality. However, for the purposes the VAST majority of people use pictures taken with their smartphone, it would be just fine, and maybe even better. I could probably count on one hand the number of times I've used pictures I've taken with my smartphone for anything other than posting on Facebook/Google+/Twitter etc... or sending to someone via MMS, and I would say in probably every single one of those instances it's because I took a picture that turned out really good and I wanted to use it in some other fashion, not because I went into it expecting to do so. If I'm taking a picture to be printed out or some other usage case than those listed above, I have DSLR that will give me a much better picture.

You also say that pretty much every review you've read makes the camera out to be bad or poor or whatever, but I again haven't seen that to be the case. I would encourage you to read the review on Anandtech. It's nothing if not thorough, and has plenty to say about the camera, the vast majority of it very good. I came from that review, and from a number of other reviews or just comparisons of the camera with the impression that camera works quite well for what most people are going to want it for.

I read that review and I would encourage you to read the comparison between the One and the S4 at GSMArena or look at the 6 way blind comparison at PhoneArena where the One came in 5 out of 6 and lost to both the S3 and the S4.

I would also challenge you point to a single post where I mentioned mega pixels. I'm merely pointing out that the One's camera is what is potentially holding me back from getting it but even still I will likely take it for a test drive due to its other good qualities.

Not sure if this has been said already but #2 is a completely moot point. I've used an app that adds power toggles to the notification bar, AND it places the toggles at the very top. This reviewer doesn't know what he's talking about.

Btw, the app is Widgetsoid for anyone wondering.

Ok:
Actually this is incorrect. The low 4mp is fine for viewing on the phone itself but when it's blown up to a full PC screen or TV the One's pics simply cannot compete with the higher MP cameras. Almost every single review points this out.

You miss the point entirely whilst making mine. HTC for reasons unknown to us, decided instead of building on the excellent camera of the One X and bumping the MPs to 13 to come up with a marketing gimmick called Ultra Pixel and scale down to 4MP. If the reviews showed the One's camera to be equal to or better than the S3, S4 or iPhone then it would be a brilliant move. Instead it just looks stoopid to have a flagship phone with a subpar camera, at least as compared to other flagships.

If HTC was going to chintz on the megapixels and take a HUGE marketing risk, they should've made sure the camera was the best available or at least as good as it's main rivals.
Crap. You only asked for one.

I have power toggles running a sense 5 custom rom on my dna and also have mods to remove the 3 dot menu key.

Rooting fixes most every issue :-)

Obvious troll is obvious. OP has never had any intention of purchasing the one, as evidenced by his colorful post history.

That anyone would take the link in the original post seriously is ridiculous.

I don't think "reviewers" missed the black bar thing. I just think most of us are smart enough to have known (for how long now?) that that's a side effect of non-compliant applications. If that keeps you from buying the phone? So be it.

If it keeps someone from doing crap "reviews" like that in the future, even better. :-/

I think it's more of a disappointment that earlier software versions had the option to hold the back button to substitute a menu key. That would have gotten rid of the on-screen menu button. But the fact that it was removed from production software...I have no idea!

They probably didn't want to rely too much on double, or triple, uses for those buttons. It may be back eventually.

That still doesn't change the fact that it isn't HTC's fault if some developers refuse to update their apps.

I have read a few things where folks are talking about trying to program the HTC logo for something. It makes sense: since the logo is right between the two existing buttons it would be part of the digitizer and likely open to programming.

There's no digitizer behind it.

Bottom line...to each their own, for WHATEVER suits you best. AND like I care whether or not you like it...c'mon..really?

I'm pretty sure one of the hacking sites checked, and there is. (I believe they ran a touch app, and it registered a touch when the logo was tapped.)

Agreed. The problem is that OP is trolling these forums hating on the One when he never had any intention of buying one. He's done it in multiple threads here.

Gotta agree with the point of there being crappy photos and good photos for everything. I've seen plenty of wonderful htc one photos and plenty of terrible ones. More freedom to mess with setting=more chance to have the wrong settings if you don't know what you're doing. I'm by no means camera inclined, but logically if there are plenty of good photos out there the phone has to be able to take good photos.
At the end of the day I basically keep all my photos on my phone/computer so I could care less about having ∞ megapixels. If you care to do otherwise, no skin off my back! To say the camera is sub par might be stretching it a bit though, at least from what I've seen.

What does someone's occupation have to do? Lawyers, he passed the bar yo become one. That's not no easy feat.

Why are manufacturers all argue when we are all using Android . I'm glad I found out about android on my little own lol.. I left ios and if I seen people complain about one manufacturer vs another it would've had me wonder if the Os was even Ok =)
Imo there's a phone for everyone.
