P9 wifi range issue....

[Android Central Question]

I was doing some networking stuff in my house yesterday and that included changing my parents phone over to the new said etc... I noticed then that at the same distance from the router my phone had 0 bars and my parents had 4.... We both have a P9 which is why I find this so confusing.. it is the same everywhere I go (ive decided to test it for the past week) anyone had this?

Are they both on the same network? Both on 2.4 or 5ghz?
