People receiving your phone--how is the signal strength?

In dBm (NOT bars) is your signal strength better or worse?

it is a recurring thing with samsung on most networks. Just check the forums and you will see the complaints.

Oh ok. Well that's even worst lol. Thought it was more with them trying to get their hardware to work with Verizon LTE and CDMA since its the only one while everyone else is gsm and sprint LTE isn't up. But anyhow, something that needs to be considered. Hopefully people don't have a lot of problems making or dropping calls. At the end of the day I don't care how good the specs are or how great it looks, if it cant be the basic thing..... A phone, I don't want it.

I agree. I will give it about a week and if it is having issues back it shall go. Samsung needs to figure this out because they make awesome phones just minus the phone part. Somehow this does not make sense that they are making all these record profits yet have such terrible reception/radios.

I have a Motorola........Bionic with an average of -78 to -89 of this so called DBM and I CONSTANTLY loose data and sometimes calls......Motorola my ass.....Monday can't get here soon enough!!

I put no faith in the bars and numbers anymore.
The only thing I know for a fact is in the area I live in some phones work and some don't.

I don't care what kind of phone you use, that's not how I judge someone's worth or intelligence. Sent using tapatalk 2.

In the downtown park the other night, my daughter's t-bolt data worked great. My Nexus couldn't even find the network. Both Verizon.

I am beginning to think the bars and numbers no longer really mean much. I have had phones that had awful signal and 1 bar yet performed just as well as when it "read" that it had great signal. Maybe it was just me but i dont get worked up over bars and dbms because with my nexus I think only once was I under 100 dbm wise yet never had a dropped call or anything and my data always worked fine( except for the few handoff issues it had at first)

My S3 is showing -109dBm, -31asu. It seems like my Maxx holds the 4G better than the S3. The S3 switches to 3G more often but holds 4G better than the Charge and Gnex when I had them.

I live in a fringe area and my Maxx shows 4G=-105dBm. I should have my S3 tomorrow , I will post my signal strength when I get home.

Well I am sure an update will come that helps with handoffs, because the bionic and razr/maxx had similar hand off issues at first. At least the maxx and sgs3 are pretty close dbm wise.

I'm watching this thread closely also on other android forums. It seems that more and more GS3 users are beginning to post encouraging results. I guess there were some initial hiccups, errors in activation process for some folks with trouble.

Another thing is it seems GS3 is just holding stronger signal of 3G and 4G it detects, rather than always trying to hold 4G.

I know it's not the same phone, but it's the same maker. I'm sitting on my Nexus waiting for me S3 and currently have -76 dBm 16 asu. I love Samsung.

That's really good for a nexus. How does your nexus compare to other phones you have had signal/dbm wise?

Agree. It seems more are reporting good/decent signal and reception than those who are having issues.

sorry for all of the repeat posts. The page wouldn't load and hit the post reply every time. Mods, can you please delete?

Overall signal is better, I'm ignoring looking at the numbers and just using the phone, and all is working great. 11 hours of use and 1:40 of screen on time and at 50% battery, I'll take it

I have had the phone for a couple of days, now. I live in an area where Verizon has good coverage and am also in the middle of a 4G coverage area. Qualitatively speaking, I have not noticed any subpar radio reception on my SG3. It seems to be working very well.
