My partner has a Nokia phone running Android 12.
When her phone is in standby and receives a phone call, a banner is displayed at the top of the screen offering Accept or Decline. If she presses Accept, the phone then displays the lock screen which requires her to enter the password number. By the time she's done this, most times the caller has rung off.
This does not happen on my phone which is a Samsung Galaxy A25 running Android 19. When the lock screen is displayed and I get a call, I get the display at the top of the screen offering Accept or Decline, and if I press Accept, the phone call is immediately connected.
Is there a setting I am missing to make my partner's phone behave in the same way as mine, please?
Thanks

I moved this from the General News forum to the General Help forum.

That Accept/Decline banner should only appear if the phone is already unlocked and the screen is not asleep, so that's an odd occurrence. If an Android phone is on standby, an incoming call should show the full-screen incoming call UI, with large buttons for answering or rejecting.

Which Nokia phone does she have? Try booting into Safe Mode and see if the issue persists -- here are the steps for the Nokia 3V, which are probably the same for all Nokia phones: https://www.verizon.com/support/knowledge-base-226521/

It's a Nokia 5.3.
I have a problem with your suggestion, though. If I phone her phone while it's in standby, it works as you and I think it should - it puts up the phone home page with large icons. It's when the hospital phones that the problem occurs. The number comes up as 'Private Number' and it's hidden - one cannot phone it back if the call is missed. So, we can't really test this unless we boot in safe mode and keep it there until a hospital call comes in. What does safe mode mean we couldn't do on the Nokia? Would it mean the Nokia is everyday usable?
Thanks,

First -- are you saying that she's no longer having the problem of not getting the fullscreen incoming call UI when it's on standby? In your initial post, you said, "When her phone is in standby and receives a phone call, a banner is displayed at the top of the screen offering Accept or Decline". But in your last reply, you said that when it's on standby, she does see that fullscreen incoming call UI (when you call, at least). Are you saying that when the hospital calls, she only gets the banner along the top of the screen, even on standby?

Safe Mode should be available on all Android phones, and is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily disables all 3rd party apps. This can be helpful to determine if an issue is due to something you installed vs something wrong with the system or its preinstalled apps. If the problem goes away in Safe Mode, that would indicate that something that you installed is causing the problem. These are the steps I found specifically for the Nokia 5.3: https://www.hardreset.info/devices/nokia/nokia-53/safe-mode/
