Pixel 2/2 XL - December Update (OTA) 12/5

I picked up a new 2XL at a Bell store on Friday night and once I joined their wifi, got the update notification right away. Installed when I got home (and then did a factory reset just to start off fresh).

Thanks for the replies.. I hope the battery doesn't take too much of a hit, it/the XL 2 battery's reputation as being fantastic, was one of the reasons I purchased the phone, that and the Camera / Unlimited storage. However, my work phone is an 8 plus and while I'm not intending on getting into a debate, the 2 XL doesn't hold water to the 8's battery IMO... not by a longshot. Again, different beasts, but hoping not to take a hit.

No battery hit here... it's probably a third party app running rogue
I suggest trying to pin down the culprit or if it persists try doing a FDR.

I haven't noticed any battery hit after sideloading it. I will test it out this week.

Still no update here. I'm hoping when I finally get it that it will fix the random reboot issue.

Quite a few complaints that the battery takes a substantial hit

I read elsewhere that 'Mobile Data Always Active' is toggled on after the 8.1 update. Maybe that's causing battery drain (and hitting your data allowance). Switch it off in developer options.

I also noticed that the battery level is more accurately displayed with 8.1 - it doesn't stay at 100% for ages like it used to so maybe it only looks like you're getting a greater hit.

Still no update.
Thought these phones were supposed to get super quick updates!
My friend who got his GP2 through VZ the same day i got mine, got his OTA update the afternoon of the 5th.

Thought the same regarding the updates as my 6P always got them right away. A big reason I got the pixel was for the timely updates. I had to wait 3 weeks after the November patch was announced before I got it almost in December. Then the day after the 8.1 came out I got it. So it's pretty random. Also kinda wish I didn't have it as it's seemingly caused my stellar battery to not be so stellar. Losing 8% overnite. No indication on my Gsam battery monitor or the OEM monitor as to what's the cause.
Anyway the updates are released totally randomly so enjoy the crapshoot.

Yeah it's kind of a **** off, I thought the Pixel 2's would be the first to get it but there's people with original Pixel's and Nexus 6p's getting it OTA and still nada for my Pixel 2.

I can't find 'mobile data always active.' I have the beta version(I think its the beta version considering prior to the update I signed up for the beta versions)

for those that noticed the battery hits.. do you guys have android 8.1.0? I'm assuming this is for the people who had the beta version signed up..

I just got the update night now!!! All i did was keep hitting the "check for update" button over and over(at least 20 times) and finally it came up. It also has the HD voice calling for at&t users.

Mine is downloading, too. I had just re-started mine because I saw the Alexa app was using 7% of the battery and then decided to plug it at work to top the battery off and that's when the update popped up.

No beta, OTA a few days ago and my battery has been different ever since. Still looking at possible causes. Not ready to do a full FDR yet.
Mobile data always active option is under developer options. I haven't tried disabling it yet.
