Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL

If my S7 poops out it'll be the smaller version, I still can't get behind handling and carrying in my pockets the bigger phones.

Apologies if this has been covered, but in considering which to buy out of the regular and XL, does anyone think there are specific advantages going with HTC or LG? Thanks.

I finalized my decision for now and purchased a Tech 21 case. Staying with my original Pixel 2 XL 64GB in Black and it will eventually slide into a LifeProof case when it comes out.

Obviously the xl 2 has several advantages over the regular pixel 2. That's why its much more expensive. Larger and better screen, and much larger battery. The regular pixel 2 is best though for those who prefer smaller, better for one hand use, etc. Not everyone watches videos and plays games on a phone.

But I think screen size is the difference maker. If the Pixel 2 was maybe 5.5 inches with a bigger battery. More would be choosing it over the larger XL. Same reason why the XL was more popular than the pixel and the 6p more than the 5x.

Actually, I would say that bigger screen is not an advantage. Larger is also not an advantage if you have small hands or like to have an inconspicuous phone. Another point is that the larger battery may not help at all since the pixel 2 xl screen is so huge.

One could argue that the advnatage is in the smaller phone. Smaller = less likely to drop. Bezels = less likely to shatter your screen when dropped. 16:9 aspect ratio is better than 18:9 right now due to apps not consistently supporting the 18:9 (also, if you haven't used a phone with 18:9 you need to go try it because I hated the Galaxy S8 due to the weird ratio screen. Phone is top heavy and easier to drop also looks dumb)

To the original poster though, I had the essential phone like you but went back to the pixel xl. The bezels don't mean anything and you forget they are there once you go back. I'd rather have bezels and screen protection over bezeless. Bezeless just means broken phone screen by the slightest drop.

HTC has the advantage over LG in that they are using the almost same form factor as last years pixel and their HTC U11. The LG phone is a completey new design and I don't particularly trust LG (their phones usually suck). Also, the squeeze feature is from HTC meaning the LG had to engineer it into their phones based on another companies tech... I dont trust it.

This is part of the reason why I went with the normal Pixel 2. I don't have anything against LG (my previous experience with their phones have been good), but as an iteration of their (HTC's) previous designs, I'm hoping the Pixel 2 will be a very reliable product down the line.

Your last statement was my final straw of ordering Pixel 2. I'm tired of having to use two hands to type a text out or correct a text when the voice doesn't catch what I'm saying the F- word haha.

I feel your pain. It wasn't as tough a decision for me because I'm just tired of the size of my 6P and wanted something smaller. The Pixel 2 made sense.

However, it took me forever to find a good sleeve for it (I don't like cases). I decided on a FitBag but kept bouncing around between different materials and colors. All that grief for a sleeve!

I personally think they went too small of a screen on the regular Pixel. They could've easily done a 5.5 inch screen. To me it looks like an older iPhone 5.

Had they done this, my next phone would have been a much easier decision. I had been hoping to switch over to the Pixel from my S7, but I want a screen bigger than the Pixel 2, but don't want the size of of the Pixel 2 XL.

I had the Pixel for about 7 months as my daily driver. Battery lasted all day if not a little more on moderate - heavy usage. I didn't have to top up after work like I did with the S8. I believe the original Pixel had the 2700 also

Me neither, but i did see it at Verizon. Must be something in their display setup. And I noticed the batteries were at ~35% while plugged in.
