Pixel 6.

I think the catch is the amount of storage. I mean it's not terrible, but I'd like to see if there is a 256 storage option and how much that costs?

It's the same base storage as offered on Samsung Galaxy s21 ultra and iPhone Pro 13 Max... And it's all but fully confirmed by Google that there will be 256 GB versions of both phones, with a possible 512 GB version for the Pro pixel

Yeah I heard somewhere that there would be other storage options. I'm hoping they aren't +$100 for the next size up. But it seems likely that it will be.

I know what you mean. I have an S21ultra and am very happy with it. BUT...there's something intriguing about that new Pixel with Google's own Tensor chip. Five years of security updates. Neat colorways. Very cool indeed.
I got the S21 Ultra mainly because I wanted out of my iPhone 12 pro and wanted the best out there. I couldn't have gone this past year using iOS. It slowly and increasingly became more frustrating to use the longer I had it. The Pixel 5 was tempting when I bought the iPhone, but the processor and screen size was underwhelming. I'm sure it's a good device.

I can't wait to see and hear some long term reviews on the 6 in a few months down the road. Initial reactions to the phone will be good I'm sure, but I don't base any sort of weight to the first wave of reviews that come out after a device is released.

Yeah I can't believe the P6 at $599. But if so, it would make the P6 an absolute bargain.

I hadn't been looking forward to spending as much as $1099 for the base storage 6 Pro, but have braced myself to go to that extent if it were to exceed the $999 I had been predicting. If it actually comes in at $899, I'll happily - well, not happily, but willingly - pay $999 for a 256GB variant.

I anticipate this to be a phone I would hold on to for 2-3 years easily, and I the extra storage would come in handy for lengthy video recording. I suspect the next couple of generations will be much more modest iterations.

I wish I could stay with a phone for 2+ years. I don't think I have that much self control. I always like to have the latest, especially if I am always going to have a payment.

Yep at $599 for the best pixel made to date, I will definitely take a chance on it. I haven't bought a bad pixel yet.... you gotta have faith :p

Today is Tuesday YAY!!!!

... I don't think I've ever really said or written that phrase so excitedly before.

Haha.
First time ever I'm actually hopeful of the pixel. Hopefully this one is a keeper.

Well, until the note / S mashup comes out anyway.

I remember being excited about the P5 when it was coming out then all the leaks made me pretty "blah" about it. The 6's constant teases and leaks have made me far more excited and I cannot wait for the event today.

Fingers crossed we will not be disappointed and I really don't think we will be.... well most of us. Someone will inevitably ***** about the battery size though b/c that's just how it works in the cell phone community. Battery snobs.... they're a trip lol

I love how this has to still be in the "rumored" section despite the fact we know all about the phone and it's revealed in 2 hours.

Rumor has it there will be a new spot created later today for Pixel 6/Pro discussions....:-)

I discussed this with 'Stang yesterday - he said there would probably be one by the end of yesterday - right! - never trust a guy who drives a Ford.......

Seems to me there are less posters here for the 6 than any previous Pixel -

Its coming, they get busy with other things going on in the Forums.

Can't speak to what he might have said in DM, but when he posted about it a couple of days ago he said they "will get one up shortly." They generally don't create those subforums until the device is fully and officially disclosed, which makes sense, as otherwise the forum would contain a lot of speculation (even with what little there is remaining about which to speculate) to filter through rather than being (hopefully) an information exchange based on 'absolutes.'

But yeah, never trust a guy who drives a Ford.

Edit - Dang, Mustang, beat me to it.

And I'll provide you an out - 60's Mustangs are still totally fine.

If there are fewer people here posting, perhaps its because there's a welcome and surprising lack of shortcomings of the phones for people to bash and complain about? I don't mind the momentary lull. I'm sure there'll be plenty of little things for people to nitpick about (and hopefully nothing truly impactful).

Now this is interesting...

"Google has told suppliers that it plans to make over 7 million units of the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro...[and] more than 5 million units of the Pixel 5a"

That would put Google aiming for 12M, vs the 3.7M they sold in 2020, a pretty huge increase, shining light on just how confident Google is in this new line.
