Pixel 7

I just hope they fine tune it to run better with the tensor chipset... as long as it's the typical pixel experience I've become accustomed to, I don't really care about any bumps in performance... except maybe making sure the modem is up to the task. Otherwise, if the price stays the same me and the wife are in :p

After having an S22U for a few days, and returning, I have ordered another. I found the Pixel experience great, till 12 but some of the items on Android 12 on a Pixel I don't like and prefer how Samsung has designed these features or in some cases, kept the older experience styles.

And now, it appears they have added a new feature to my 4XL and not loving it.

Hope the best for the Pixel 7, I do like competition it usually helps the consumer. And as it stands right now, in the world of Android for higher end phones it is either Google Pixel or Samsung S-series (maybe Sony) but sure not OnePlus (as it stands now).

Now that I'm back in country, if I run across any P7 articles I'll still post.

I believe the 6 was an improvement over the 5 so the 7 would be for sure. But that is the one thing Pixel has always been great at. When I do use the camera on my phone, I end up taking strange pictures while I try and contemplate who did the wiring job and are all those wires power? (Happy to say that cluster is about 12,000 miles from where I actually call home.) (NOTE: Doing some research, they are mostly communication wires for phone, internet, etc. Which is strange since people in Bangkok all appear to have cell phones in their hands just like here in the USA.)

(Article I ran across. Guess Bill Gates was curious too.)

Apologize for getting off the Pixel 7 theme.

I agree with you about the camera improvements! Oh wow! That's frightening! Glad you live far away from that cluster of wires!

Many years ago, I used to live not far from where that photo was taken and used to work not far from that location. However, back then there were not so many comm lines so I guess it wasn't as bad since I never noticed; or maybe I just kept looking around more and less looking up.

Matte finish on the back, please. I usually run caseless, but I had to put a matte skin on my P6 because it was so slippery. I really like the matte feel and look. And no fingerprints.

I agree I'm also getting a little tired of shiny fingerprint magnets so slippery that a case is a must

I would like to see a matte finish on the P7P series as well. Now I couldn't care less about fingerprints, but the slipperiness of my Pixel 6 Pro is bothersome. I would like to feel secure carrying it without a case. In fact I would like to see a change in thought that a fragile glass back denotes a must have for a phone to be considered premium. Perhaps more like the Pixel 5. Ruggedness should be the thought of the day.

My Moto X Pure Edition was a high end feeling metal framed phone with a very nice textured rubberized back... best phone I've ever held, and only phone I never put a case on. They need to bring that type of idea back. But I suppose phone companies wouldn't be able to sell as many cases, insurance policies, or even complete phones when folks drop and break their slippery, fragile glass decorations lol.

I feel like I enjoy both, but matte is a very unique and sophisticated look.

Yes, same here. I was just cleaning up my photos and the pictures I took of mine when I sold it. Had the same thoughts. Too bad it didn't perform as well as it looked.

I'm sure the cheaper manufacturing cost (and follow the leader) was the motivation for cell phone companies to switch to fragile glass backs on phones. Nothing about it screams advancement or high tech innovation. It does demonstrate the principle of charging more (for a process that probably costs less to manufacture) convinces people it is a premium feature.
There are many pros and cons for glass and aluminum frame/polycarbonate phone backs.
Here's an interesting older article pointing out both.
"Glass is Replacing Aluminium & Plastic in Flagships, But it Shouldn't" https://www.xda-developers.com/glass-aluminum-flagship-plastic-wrong/amp/

Going back now, but I loved the carbon fiber back of my Droid Maxx way back when.
