Pixel - Signal dropping (Update: Google Knows)

Yes, I do have other problems other then it showing less bars. Dropped calls constantly, 1 bar that cuts down to nothing for about 60 seconds then goes back to 1 bar again, If I hold the phone and move an inch the call drops, If someone emails me while I am on the phone or texts me, the call gets disconnected and it doesn't switch to anything else. Once 4G lite on Verizon drops out, its gone. My signal is always sits around -112dbm

I'm not tech savy with charts and graphs and what not, and I appreciate you offering your suggestions but the bottom line is poor connectivity in all aspects and this phone does not do what it is designed to do. That's the way I see it
I've got no clue what all of the pretty charts are either. I know the facts between signal and no signal. It's cut and dry for me.

Knowing the difference between signal and no signal is the tricky part with the Pixel. As I said before, no bars doesn't mean there's no signal.

This is just a weak signal:

And this is no signal:

Google made a bad choice with this no bars indicator for a weak signal that confuses many, but a bad indicator certainly doesn't explain dropped calls that you're getting.

I've seen both of those plenty of times, except when I am on LTE just a small little corner on the bottom where the "L" is located is it for me. When things cut out completely for me though as they do more often times then not I get the no signal for anywhere between 30 and 60 seconds before I go into my weak signal mode all over again. Let me ask you something James? If I go into the APNs where it says "Verizon" and go into a section called "Bearer" I see a lot of different boxes ticked. Does it make a difference which ones are selected? This is something I found just a few minutes ago. Thanks

It shouldn't make a difference. Verizon only uses LTE and eHRPD, others are checked for international roaming, I assume.

.

Thank you. I was going to uncheck the ones that are checked as the default on the phone is not CDMA and I just wondered if any of that would make any kind of difference in terms of connectivity etc

When my call drops, I hurry and go to about phone, and check signal strength. Mine always says "No Service", signal strength is 0. Wait 30 seconds, and service comes back. Phone has done this to me several times. Google told me 7.1 is the problem, developers got 7.1 the day before pixel release, PUT ME ON 7.0 TILL YOU FIGURE 7.1 OUT!!!!!

James4 makes an interesting point. While I'm not getting spectacular signal from the Pixel, it's not bad. And it seems to do a very good job of working well with weak signal.

While I agree with some of James points I look at it in terms of something being just O.K. or passable or not bad things that we should not be plagued with on a Flagship device. Bugs are present in almost any new device nowdays and in most instances all get worked out eventually but this phone needs to work as a phone and be more then just passable. With technology today there's really no excuse for it not to be. This isn't a 200.00 device we are talking about here

Would you be happy if you bought a new car, and when your driving on the highway the engine quits, you coast to a stop, then 30 seconds later, engine starts?

Price of the phone doesn't mean there can't be a bad bug.

Bad bug? You can't even use the pixel as a PHONE.

If the issue turns out to be fixable in software or with a firmware update, I'd call it a severe bug (that should have been found before release and needs to be fixed ASAP because it's a breaking issue for the users it affects). But if it's a hardware problem, it's not a bug, it's a defect.

In my case, even when I've been on band 4, I haven't dropped a call or lost LTE signal yet. I've seen the signal get pretty weak, but it's never stopped working and I've never seen it drop out of LTE and revert to 3g.

I stopped using my pixel because I can't even hold a conversation half the time, I'm on my second pixel xl, with that said I don't care what you call it, hardware, software, bug, Google produced a phone that's worthless!

Yes there are . Same poor connection issues dropping signals and battery drain to go along with it

If thats true, then Google didn't miss the boat on the phone...it missed the boat on the new OS. Not that it gives anybody solace. :-\ This would be very unfortunate news if proven fact.

Are the reports of Nexus getting 7.1 experiencing the same issues?

And just how common is this problem? Seems like the majority of pixel owners aren't experiencing this. Even the bluetooth complaints may be a relatively small number. If its a 7.1 bug, then other phones should also experience this when/if they get updated. ???

If you do a search you will find pages upon pages of complaints all over the world with people on many different networks. It's not as small as an issue as some might wanna believe
