[POLL] How likely to buy from play store after this experience

Re: [POLL] How likely to buy from play store after this experienc

1 across the board. The play store is easy to use and convenient. Not to mention, they are shipping the devices exactly when they said they would. Anyone who is saying that they are never using teh play store again, needs to get over it. Just because GS is selling devices early does not mean that Google has done anything wrong.

Will order again but the lack of comunication STINKS.

Going on vacation soon and would have rather picked this up from a B+M but now seems like the N7 will arrive when I'm my way to the airport.

As soon as you get the shipping notification. These will ship via UPS just like the GNEX. Go to the UPS web site. You can change the shipping and have them hold it @ a UPS store. If no one is home and cant receive the package

Re: [POLL] How likely to buy from play store after this experienc

Not very likely at all. What's the point? I'm paying shipping and tax on shipping. My total costs are higher. And I still won't get it any earlier. I'd rather buy at a store and make Google eat lower margins. If this is how they treat their most loyal customers, they deserve to make less on my purchases.

Not just Gamestop. Ebuyer is shipping in the UK. And here in Canada, some Staples/NCIX outlets are selling too.

Those of us who pre-ordered actually paid for shipping. Retail store still charges same price as Google Play. You don't pay shipping, but still get the $25 credit.

So what's the benefit of shopping at Google Play? It's not coming earlier. And it costs more. I guess I don't have to stop on my way home for 15 minutes to pick it up?

By ordering through google play you were promised you would get the device in 2-3 weeks and wouldn't have to worry about store instock.

That's what Google Promised you, that's what they're delivering.

As much as I love my Nexus and Android as a whole, Google hasn't exactly done anything good, whether they kept their "promises" or not.

As others have pointed out, there were other options to purchase from at cheaper prices. Had you preordered from them, you'd have gotten it sooner with the same exact extras. Considering Google also forced users to get two day shipping for $14, now to only arrive later than nearly every other retailer that had preorders, I'd say Google did a real fan disservice with the launch of the Nexus 7.

Forcibly charge more and deliver later... I don't see how you find that perfectly fine when it's coming from the company trying to sell a new product. Sure, there is also technically nothing wrong with what they did either. Though when you take into consideration the launch of other similar hardware, Google really screwed up.

You're right. That's not much of a benefit. So what can you do now? Buy locally. It saves the shipping cost. Then follow Google's cancelation instruction (they can't do it online) and don't sign for the preorder package when it comes next week, next month, whenever. You get the benefits of receiving your Nexus 7 quicker and paying less money. Google gets the benefit of real world experience handling preorders for a product launch.

Everybody happy happy joy joy. Rainbows and unicorns.

Re: [POLL] How likely to buy from play store after this experienc

Well the only reason I purchased this is because the previous tablet I was looking at, the Wikipad 3d was giving me the run around as well. Except that the people behind Wikipad were stating that it will be coming out next month for the past year. So I chose Google play store because they seemed like the lesser of two evils.

As far as the play store, I will not be ordering anything from them again because I am hoping this tablet will last me a good long while.

It's not new that you can order devices cheaper from third parties than direct from the store. This is true of Apple products, cellphones, other ASUS tablets, and computers in general. Buying at a store TYPICALLY saves you money on these products, especially at launch unless there is a Minimum Advertised Price, but with the exception of Apple and cellphone carriers, most companies don't follow this.

Second, you have yet to provide a SINGLE shred of evidence that shows that Google intended playstore orders to ship later than Gamestop. All evidence that's out there so far (other companies ceasing sales, the words of a rep saying that they asked gamestop not to sell today, etc) points that the opposite is true.

You made assumptions about the play store order without ANY basis in what Google said, or what previous experience in tech has taught you. These expectations were wrong. This is not Google's fault. This is not Gamestop's fault. This is life.

I'd buy from the Play Store again. Definitely not buying anything from Funcoland, never cared for them. I don't care if they're selling it early. They'll pay for that transgression.

Re: [POLL] How likely to buy from play store after this experienc

This is what happens when everyone busted a nut when the device was announced @ I/O and every one pre ordered form the play store and weren't patient enough for other retailers to announce there sales of Nexus 7. In the end it was YOUR decision to order form the play store and no one elses.

Google NEVER said that people that ordered from play store would receive there units prior to General Retail sellers.

Google I/O 2012 - Keynote Day 1 - YouTube

from 53:42 to 54:42

Google is delivering on everything thing it said publicly to the world.

If you can not wait. Then you need to go to whatever the AA version of electronic attachment and must having it the very first day or hour its made available.

In my mind a Global launch of the unit on the same day to me means pre orders ship @ the same time retailers should be allowed to sell there floor stock.. again just me thought

I stated multiple times that Google never did anything technically bad or good with the launch. I simply stated that they didn't exactly make it ideal for their fans who were the first to the gates. And in my previous post, I also mentioned that I'm fine with waiting.

If you're going to basically ignore the content of my post, at least don't take the time to reply to them. I have no intent of starting a pointless forum argument between two avid Android fans, so I'm done replying within this forum until I can further share my experience with the Nexus 7 next week.

Congratulations to those who have them (I'll be reading your impressions as they pop up!) and good luck to those waiting on shipment. We should all be happy in a few days!

Re: [POLL] How likely to buy from play store after this experienc

Hehe so long as it isn't a launch time device I will for sure. I hope the next Nexus and my contract come around the same time (got a GSII Skyrocket at launch) so we will see how it plays out.

I am okay waiting for my N7 as is, just the fact that some got it today isn't enough to bug me. I returned my Galaxy Tab 2 7" on June 28th, so I have been without one anyway. 8)

And now it can be our decision to cancel the play store order and buy locally instead.

Everybody happy happy joy joy. Rainbows, puppies, unicorns, and Nexus 7 tablets.

Re: [POLL] How likely to buy from play store after this experienc

The only reason I ordered from the Play Store on June 27 is that I was not aware the N7 would be sold elsewhere. As soon as I heard about the N7 I knew I wanted one so I ordered it from the Play Store. Will I purchase devices from the Play Store in the future? It all depends what my options are at the time.

I get that..... just crazy to see people that hard up on on wanting it now now now and just not waiting 1 week or so more. Fiends

I hope you guy remember about the big picture Google has for the play store. I support that vision and that why i ordered both MY Nexi direct from play store.

I certainly won't ever preorder anything from Google ever again. As to purchasing physical products from the Play Store......I'm up in the air on that one.

I personally don't like the way the entire thing was handled, by anyone.

That is exactly what I plan on doing. Gonna try to pick it up at Staples in the morning.

If I'm successful, Google can eat the refused shipment costs.

Kinda sad too because shipping one out and then getting it back means somebody else order got delayed.

Here in Canada, it's particularly atrocious because I haven't heard of a single Canadian pre-order getting processed. And the rumour is that Canada will ours shipped last. That means a week long delay.

The reason I'm trying to can the order though is because of the shipping charge. I don't want to get jipped $21.47 for absolutely no benefit.
