I like screen 1 and 3. I also like that vertical bar battery meter. Nice. I don't like the folders. Better to just have an icon for categories I think. Looks cleaner. 2nd screen is too busy for my very simple tastes. It may be better if you went with solid backgrounds to the widgets, move the weather to the top and stretch the agenda widget the rest of the way.

I think this would counter what I'm trying to do - I don't want it to show my location. My blinkfeed/lockscreen shows "My Location" (screen 1 below) but I want it to show one of the cities I've added within the app, in this case, Toronto (similar to some of the promotional ads for the phone - screen 3 below). If I turn off location services, the app won't display any weather (screen 2 below) and won't let me enter the app unless I turn location services back on. Can't figure out how to get to "screen 3" state...

screen 1
screen 2
screen 3

I had the same problem... kept saying "My Location". I changed this by via the weather app. I don't remember exactly how, but I think it involved deleting all locations and adding mine again. I seem to remember it took a bit of trial and error... maybe even a reboot. Also, I have "My current location" unticked. Sorry I can't give a more detailed account.

Oh my god some of these home screens are BEAUTIFUL. These must look insane on the gorgeous 1080p SLCD3!

I'm somewhat of a noob when it comes to UI customizations like this... do I only need to download something like Nova launcher or whatever to make such custom home screens? :)

Yup. Choose from any of the launchers mentioned here and start customizing. Install custom icon packs and select them from the launcher settings to change those as well.

Here's my most recent update using minimalist text for battery and time.

I would recommend looking into buzz launcher if you're new to customizing. But generally nova/apex/go launcher with an icon pack and then different widgets you like. UCCW is a little more advanced but allows more personalization

I just started setting mine up and I love it so far. It's been a really interesting mobile journey for me over the last year. From IPhone user since the first one to a Lumia 920, then an S3 and now the One.

Which phone is the best in your opinion?

For me, and just me, it's the one out of the phones I've had. I'm sure the S4 is great too. I played with it when it hit At&t but I went with the one and have had no regrets.

Check out mycolorscreen.com and you see a lot of different options with step by step instructions.

Question: is there an app that will allow me to change the way my folders look and leave everything else exactly the same? I actually like sense 5 and want to enjoy it the way it is, but the folders to look ugly. I can't use Circle Launcher because I want apps, shortcuts, and bookmarks all in the same folder (and circle launcher works poorly with Sense).

Pretty hard to do because sense doesn't let you change icons. It appears you are ruling out the only solutions - app launchers or homescreen launchers, both of which would work.

By the way, I use circle launcher for contacts and it works fine, but I am not using the sense 5 launcher.

Hi

This is the setup i have for my homescreen

I'm using the following apps:-

1. Action Launcher. This allows me to make covers out of folders. So for example, I made a cover out of Falcon Pro Twitter app so if I click on it to go directly to Falcon. I can also swipe on the icon to open the folder instead to access the other apps. The non-cover folder looks like the "Settings" folder on the second last row
Like most launcher apps, it also allowed me to set up a 5 row x 4 column screen for more space. It also puts in as default the search bar and play store along the top
2. Alarm Droid. This allows me to set a widget for the next alarm.
3. Business Calendar. For the widget
4. Android Weather & Clock Widget. For the clock
5. Battery Widget Reborn. For the battery meter on the top left of the notification
6. Wifi Toggle Widget
7. Silent Toggle Widget
