Preorders starting tomorrow? (Nov 29th)

Yes.

A sound's existence is not dependent on the presence of ears.

(Sorry, but as something of an amateur philosopher, this "debate" always bugs me. C.S. Lewis once wrote "nonsense doesn't cease being nonsense, just because you are talking it about God." .... or sounds, or delays... we don't have to hear about them firsthand for them to exist. To insist otherwise is, well, nonsense.)

I agree with you but I was being rhetorical. :)

I'm so sick of tech blogs. Anyone with WordPress and an opinion can have a blog. Bloggers are NOT journalist.

I may start a blog to state my opinion, err, I mean "reporting" on how crappy most blogs are.
Don't bother, all the trash bloggers already do that for themselves just by the crap they spew from malnourished brains onto screens. Bloggers w/ any cred., are a dying breed in todays day and age.

Are we really arguing on whether it's acceptable to be angered by the delay of this phone? I don't particularly care if anyone is mad at Verizon, if they're mad at Samsung, or if they're mad at Google. Let them be. They don't have the phone they've been waiting for. Based on all the rumors and "leaked documents", there's a good case for this being a Verizon internal delay. Is it confirmed? No. Neither is the launch date. Let the people who want to vent get this off their chest. I may not feel the same way, but it's not hurting me if they get mad.

Oh, and please don't bring up this "sense of entitlement" crap. There are more important things in this world than a cell phone, but saying that as an active member of a community based on such technology doesn't speak volumes to your point. In other words, your energy would be better served in those places rather than pointing out that someone is 'wrong' for being mad about something that doesn't concern you.

How will we know what to occupy?!

I can honestly say that I am a patient man but this is just getting ridiculous. I was part of the DInc release fiasco having preordered or ordered it the first day and I didn't get until around 45 days later or so. But at least they had a pre-order and release date. Honestly I just wish we had some clue of a date. Honestly once I finally find a real job in my field I am switching off my dad's business's plan and getting T-Mo or Sprint. For now I'll have to wait though because the price is so cheap on business plan and so are the phones. Oh well sometimes you gotta put stuff in perspective and not get mad. Just be glad we all have houses, food, drink, computers and cellphones period. Even if you have a crappy cell or don't have one right now be thankful.

seriously, how do I chat with a VZW CSR online? I can't find any live chat, and I need a dose of false hope...

If you stay on vzw website long enough the "live chat "box should popup if it hasnt been disabled by vzw

If a bear craps in the woods do we really care? Also do remember this a Samsung built phone there record isn't the greatest even if is a pure Google os. That could just make it worse with lte radio

we all want the phone, we all wanted it weeks ago.

Verizon said 2011.. in 2012 you can cry about a delay, which might be a real possibility.. infact ill cry with you then.

Until then, to sit around and think you have the right to cry because you chose to believe rumors (that have been like 0/10 as far as being accurate) that didnt pan out.. boo hoo.

I'm not happy about this phone not being out yet.. but like someone already pointed out it must be a generational thing.. because I dont have this self entitlement where I think I can and moan about it not panning out exactly how I decided in my own head that it should.

The same people who are ing, are the same people who have been ing.. they are also the same people who swore up and down that this phone would be out on the 11th.. then afterwards that their was no way it would be out after black friday etc etc.. while on the other hand, us adults have realized the whole time that anything is a possibility and Verizon simply said 2011 to give themselves that window, and until that window is over your crying is invalid.

Its clear that Verizon delayed the phone internally. Add blitz, Best Buy screw up etc. They havent delayed it publicly, but to say the phone is moving along as intended seems silly at this point.

How can you be so sure VZW screwed it up?

They distribute the phone. I don't have the phone. The "leaks" from supposedly knowledgeable individuals seem to indicate it's primarily due to Verizon software incompatibilities. That tells me, they screwed it up.

You don't think there is any chance that Google/Samsung gave them a buggy phone? Let me rephrase that. Do you think that it's impossible that Google/Samsung gave them a buggy phone?

Of course there is... but why did it get released in the UK on time? The LTE radio is having a problems? I'm mean, what are the actual differences between the devices in the UK and hear? Verizon is the carrier and it has a different radio/form factor? You're right, there could be bugs with the LTE radio but that's not what has been "leaked" from "well placed" sources.

You could be right, but you could be wrong. None of us really know for sure.

I agree... I just find the "Oh, VZW hasn't done anything wrong..." stuff bizarre. They distribute the phones and other carriers seemed fine to roll with it, what's the hold up with Verizon?

I just get annoyed by the fact anyone who even mentions or references back to a purported "leak". They immediately get swarmed by one of the "Verizon didn't say it, so it's untrue" wagoneers. Whether right or wrong, if that argument was a horse, it's been dead long enough to stink up the joint. Wish they'd quit beating it every chance they get. Cuz in the grand scheme of things, it all amounts to one big nothing once the phone is released.

Philly, why does it matter to you if someone is mad about how this launch has been handled? Who cares? I'd bet a lot of money that this was delayed several times over the course of the last few weeks and is still being delayed as we speak. Do I care that much? Not really. Do I understand why people would? Yes. This isn't a generational thing at all and to harp on that like it makes a difference is just a waste of time.

Fact is, we don't have the phone yet. May not for some time. People are going to be mad about that for various reasons, young and old. All will be forgiven once the phone is in their hands, but until then, let them vent if they want to.

Not trying to troll but if the "debate" (which it is not) "bothers" you, then you are not really understanding the question.

It has to do with the nature of perception & the question of 'what is a sound?' If you think the answer is so clear cut, or if there is an answer at all, then you are clearly missing the point. And if you think that, after thousands of years, you are so brilliant to have finally "solved" this conundrum then you are hardly a "philosopher," amateur or otherwise.

There is, in fact, no answer as the question is meant to inspire one to question & ponder the nature & validity of perception, not to "solve the puzzle ftw." After all, a "sound" is merely compression of air into waves of a particular frequency. It is not experienced as a "sound" until it is detected & *interpreted* as such by the ears & brain of an observer. If there is no observer, or ears....... you know what? Nevermind. Congratulations on solving the puzzle without even buying a vowel. You are a new kind of genius the likes of which the world has never seen.

Also, not that it makes a difference, but I'm pretty pissed @ VZ for their mis-handling of this un-launch. Even Canada knows when they're getting it. Canada
ftLoG! Not even a peep out of VZ. And shame on Richi Jennings for his "confirmed" rumor mongering. How about a semantic argument about whether one random forum poster constitutes "more than a trickle?" Computerworld is now no more credible or intelligent than gadget411news.com. Read at your own risk folks...

Got up hoping for good news here this morning. None so far. :( Guess this noob will be patiently still awaiting his first smart phone. I did print out my livingsocial coupon.

Looks like Mr. Jennings over at Computerworld has finally stepped up to eat some crow. Here's his latest update: "Update 3: The November 29 business day has started, and it's clear that I was wrong. Wrong about the pre-order date, and wrong to use the word "confirmed" in that way.

Thanks for all the comments, both critical and supportive. I'm sorry for getting your hopes up. You deserve better."
