Preorders starting tomorrow? (Nov 29th)

They distribute the phone. I don't have the phone. The "leaks" from supposedly knowledgeable individuals seem to indicate it's primarily due to Verizon software incompatibilities. That tells me, they screwed it up.

Of course there is... but why did it get released in the UK on time? The LTE radio is having a problems? I'm mean, what are the actual differences between the devices in the UK and hear? Verizon is the carrier and it has a different radio/form factor? You're right, there could be bugs with the LTE radio but that's not what has been "leaked" from "well placed" sources.

I agree... I just find the "Oh, VZW hasn't done anything wrong..." stuff bizarre. They distribute the phones and other carriers seemed fine to roll with it, what's the hold up with Verizon?

Okay, the fact that you need to use that many "'s should tell you something. If you has everything on "leaks" everything is always late. It got released in the UK on time because they said November. They never mentioned a release date, or even a US carrier at the event. Take away the "leaks"(rumors) and what do you have? Oh, yeah, a GN releasing on time, lol

Looks like Mr. Jennings over at Computerworld has finally stepped up to eat some crow. Here's his latest update: "Update 3: The November 29 business day has started, and it's clear that I was wrong. Wrong about the pre-order date, and wrong to use the word "confirmed" in that way.

Thanks for all the comments, both critical and supportive. I'm sorry for getting your hopes up. You deserve better."

lol...is anyone actually surprised? c'mon now...

this was easily the worst rumor ever posted and some people actually bought it. yikes...

But they day isn't even over! LOL

Seriously, this thing could still launch today. You never know.

Best bet, if you get frustrated easily over rumors and "leaks" don't bother with these forums. You were promised the phone by the end of the year by the people that actually matter. If, by the end of the year, you don't have it, feel free to complain. Fact of the matter is, as of right now, the phone is on pace to come out on time.

I "confirm" that today will be just another day with no new information on the release day. My source is my own personal opinion, which is just as good as all the other "sources" confirming things.

Even if Verizon has always meant to release in December, that is messed up because the phone was announced as coming in November and it did. It's already been sold outside the US. The reason people say Verizon screwed up is because no matter what the reason, November is almost gone and there's been no word at all.

Possibility 1: Verizon is waiting to sell enough bloated devices before releasing
2: Samsung/Google delivered a phone that doesn't quite work yet using CDMA/LTE
3: Verizon has had trouble integrating bloat onto the phone.

1: This is a perfectly sound business plan but it's messed up because we're all in the dark as to when the American company Google's baby will be available in America while other parts of the world already have it.
2: If this is the case, that's understandable but it's messed up that Verizon won't tell us anything especially when they have the chance to put off responsibility to another party.
3: I think most of us don't really care about the two VZW apps being on the Nexus but to delay the phone's release because of these apps and still not even give us a date is ridiculous.

Can anyone think of some other scenario where Verizon is justified in being behind the world AND not telling us why?

I'm sorry, it was announced as coming to the US in November? Link please?

LMAO. Exactly. I hope it doesn't release till December 31 just so I can read another month of "leaks", rumors, and whining.

Yes.

A sound's existence is not dependent on the presence of ears.

(Sorry, but as something of an amateur philosopher, this "debate" always bugs me. C.S. Lewis once wrote "nonsense doesn't cease being nonsense, just because you are talking it about God." .... or sounds, or delays... we don't have to hear about them firsthand for them to exist. To insist otherwise is, well, nonsense.)

As an "amateur philosopher" you sure have a narrow-minded point of view. Sure the propagation of sound will still exist, waves of pressure will still pass through a compressible media, but I could argue that without a medium of the perception of these waves there will be no sound. As sound is only defined by the interaction of the waves vs the medium. Basically the 2 theories in question are "substance theory" vs "bundle theory" the idea whether substance is distinct from its properties or its merely sense data. Either viewpoint will have its criticisms. Technically there is no possible way to prove either theory, hence the original question

Then leave/dont join Verizon and dont buy the phone. Honestly people, if you are that dis-trot about this thing not being announced or released then stick it to the man and dont pay them.

Verizon doesnt care about what you have to say or anyone else here. they are a cash cow and they do whatever they want with their phones. There is a reason why Google didnt announce a release date at the Nexus debut. its because Google doesnt have enough power to push Verizon to release the device. Why? because nexus devices dont sell well enough or bring enough subscribers to have them pull any weight.

All this discussion on whether a sound is heard or not is actually making me yearn for discussion on (discounted) rumors and speculation. So, how's Dec. 8th looking? ;)

Got up hoping for good news here this morning. None so far. :( Guess this noob will be patiently still awaiting his first smart phone. I did print out my livingsocial coupon.

Chip

Welcome to Android (eventually.) Hopefully it won't be much longer for you. You have held out quite a while for your first smartphone. May it not disappoint.

says the whiner whining about whiners who are whining about whining......

Just for grins, I Googled news about the GN release, and found that everyone jumped on ComputerWorld's original article as written-in-stone confirmation about today's rumored pre-order.

Amazing how all that it takes for something to go viral is for one publication to improperly vet their source and publish unsubstantiated spewage.

Huffington Post has a really obnoxious story linking almost exclusively to Droid Life's site. Wonder who put on the knee-pads for that? lol...

Good thing I completely ignore rumors. I slept like a champ, worry free, and continue to wait it out. It will be out this year. Only 32 days left. The more you continue to hang on to every baseless rumor out there. The more disappointment you add to your life.
Just my 2 cents.
Now carry on.
