Okay. I am running IHO BACKside, and I rebooted into recovery, yet I am still getting the "failed...phone does not answer" I have my COM assigned to #1, tried all available between 1 and 10 (only 1,2,3 and 4 are open) to no avail.... ??

make sure your connected to the phone com port and not the phone modem com port, that was where i went wrong

It may be the recovery you are using. What recovery do you use?

Where is the difference? Where do i make sure I'm connecting to the right one? Is it in device manager or the CDMA step?

And I am just running ClockworkMod recovery, or whatever is automatic in IHO (hold down unlock button->press reboot->recovery)

Device Manager. What Kraven says is right! That's where i went wrong too. You cant use the Com Port from the modem. Make sure you get the LG drivers from the link in the thread. Others will NOT work.

EDIT: On a side note, when I flashed the PRL, data was working fine, but sms/mms/phone calls stopped working. Did I do something wrong?

I'm using 60683 with no ill effects

I had to perform a hard reset by removing the battery and that resolved the issue. A reset did not fix it.

For some reason, even though I have my network to home only... it still connects to a tower that i am not authorized to use. Data works, but sms/mms/phone does not. Any suggestions?

Is 61007 still the latest Virgin Mobile PRL?

Have the most recent Optimus V phones been coming with something newer than that?

61007 is around 6 months old (or more).

I believe 60685 is the latest.
Don't go by the numbers, they aren't in order apparently.

61677 is a hybrid PRL that was posted over at XDA. It is a merge of 60677 Sprint PRL and 61007. You can download it from that link as well if you choose to.

Thanks for the reminder! I completely forgotten about this one, as it was one of the first PRLs I'd tried nearly a year ago.

I went from 61XXX to 60685 last week and noticed better connection all over, 3G was way better also.

Went ahead and updated to 60685. Went straight from 40 kB/s to 130 kB/s.
