Problems after 2.2 update - post here.

z28zr1 DONT give up on Froyo!! It is so worth it on the Fascinate! Flash is great! The phone seems to be fast on Froyo compared to Eclair!!

Had to do a factory reset to get the camera to work - re-installed all apps through market. Camera works fine now.

I'm not sure if this is the cause, but after uninstalling the Lookout Mobile Security, the phone no longer auto resets.

I went ahead with attempting the factory reset before update method. The system booted into EA28 with no issues but attempting to the OTA update to ED01 caused the exact same error as before. It made it to about 30% before aborting the update and soft resetting. Made it back to the OS and it prompted to install the update. I clicked OK and it went through the motions again of trying to install the update before aborting at 30%.

I downloaded the update today and afterwards my phone would not connect to the internet. Called VZW for help and after all their attempts still no internet connection.
They are sending me a new Fascinate via fed ex, no doubt with the old eclair operating system. I will be staying with that....no more updating....what a waste of time.

You will keep getting update notifications until you accept the update. If you do the froyo update when the phone is still completely "stock" (meaning before you do any customizations to it) it should be fine. Most of the problems are caused by customizations such as a different launcher, rooting, or installing Google Search when they intended you to only have Bing.

phone is working great with 2.2.. but this battery issue is a big one. my battery use to last easily a very long time.. like 24 hours.. it now lasts a fraction of that.

I've gone in and looked for a few settings the update might of changed, that are causing more battery use.. and i'm hoping that helps the issue.. but i think the issue is more of a "battery drain" bug or something

I have not had one issue yet since updating. I was running Superclean 292 and a custom kernel before so here is how I did it.
I ODIN'd all they way back to DL01, accepted the EA28 OTA update, then the FROYO update. Now my phone was completely stock w/ verizon crapware.
Then I went here

[How To] Root ED01 Froyo

and got rooted again. I was just doing it this way to test and see how everything works. All my google stuff is working. I don't mind having the verizon crapware on there, I just don't like that the Car Cradle defaults to VZ Navigator and Bing Maps.

GPS issues back after 2.2 update

I have 3 Fascinates since last Sept. All 3 would not get a GPS lock or would take over 10 minutes. Then first patch came out..GPS got a little better..Then next patch and GPS started working great. Another patch, EA28, all 3 phones GPS still working great. Fast locks and very accurate.
Now 2 of the 3 have had their FROYO updates and both now cannot get a GPS lock or if one does, it takes over 20 minutes.
None of the 3 phones have been rooted or tampered with. Completely stock. Minumum apps installed on all 3. Everything else seems OK.

Any ideas on how to get GPS working great again???
I have not done a factory reset on any of them but certainly could try on one.
3rd phone has not yet recieved its update. manally trying results in server unavailabe message which I assume will go away and work in the next week. Its GPS still working great but I'm sure it will quit after 2.2 upgrade as well.
Thanks.

no internet after update

So, I got my 2.2 update yesterday and today I cannot access emails, marketplace, facebook etc...basically anything that has to do with the internet. I've gone through as many things as I could think of to fix this but still nothing. I am definitely not tech savy so I'm hoping someone has an easy answer for me that will fix this?? BTW my phone is completely stock, no rooting, google launcher? etc.
Thanks.....................:(

silent mode? Sure there is

1) Make sure usb debugging is checked under menu=>settings=>applications=>development

2) Sorry, don't have an answer for this one.

3) Unfortunately a lot of people have complained about this, and there is no longer a true silent mode. vzw/sammy showing they know what everyone wants without actually asking anyone what they want.

There is a silent mode.
Just go to settings/sound settings and chose virbrate. There you can
choose always, never, only in silent mode etc.
Just chose never.
Now when you crank down your volume you will the speaker with the line through it.

If anyone has any problems or craziness try this:

Go here Full Odin DI01 package...but have a question... - xda-developers and download the DI01 stock pacakge.

Flash your phone with it using ODIN. (This will also fix if you screwed up your phone with VooDoo)

when it gets done you will be back to the old stock version. Accept the EA28 update.

Reboot (done automatically)

Accept the 2.2 Froyo ED01 update.

Reboot (done automatically)

You will now be back to unrooted Complete Stock.

If you want to go on and Root the stock froyo from verizon - go here: [How To] Root ED01 Froyo

Very simple root. takes a total of 5 minutes once you have the root files downloaded. No need to install ADB and do a bunch of typing.

While my phone and update seems to have gone well, a friend is having problems with her phone. The response on her phone is slow; whenever she clicks on an app or swipes from screen to screen it takes seconds for the phone to respond. She is not rooted and is using the regular TWLauncher. She has rebooted the phone several times to no avail. Any suggestions?

Mightyjimmy - my phone had the same issue! It would run slow on the main screen and clicking apps took 3-5 seconds to load. Very frustrating. A friend of mine suggested deleting all of the widgets. Some of them took holding my finger on them for 10 seconds or more for it to register and allow me to drag to trash, but after doing so, it's back to normal! I haven't tried re-loading the widgets, but it appears to be much better. I hope this helps! ;)

Bluetooth Not Working After Froyo Update

Updated to Froyo and now the Ford Sync Bluetooth phone system is no longer operating correctly for me. It takes the call off of bluetooth after about 20 seconds and goes back to the phone, despite saying it is still connected. I've had the car for 5 months and have never had a problem with the Fascinate syncing to the system. I've seen other posts about this with other devices going to Froyo, but is anyone here seeing this?

Anyone figure out Froyo Android_Secret_Code String

So anyone figure out the secret code string for Froyo?

when you called Verizon did they have you reset your phone to factory? I am considering trying this as my internet isn't working after update either but if it won't fix the problem I don't want to do it???

Im sorry I offended you.

You know how I found your site???? It was linked to from another forum.
But I don't remember any of those mods getting upset about that.

For anyone else who needs help I'm sorry. I am not going to keep on going on about this anymore at all. You will have to find other resources.

I called Verizon to see if there was a known issue or if somehow the update could be forced onto the phone (yeah right...) and they said they would send me a new phone. Fear of bricking a $300 phone caused me to never take the plunge into flashing a ROM. With a new one on the way, I took this a a perfect opportunity to screw up a phone and realized flashing a ROM is actually pretty darn easy. I flashed back to DL09 with Odin, then recovery mode applied an update.zip to get back to EA28. Pulled the OTA and viola, no problems installing. I realized that in my early excitement of owning an android phone, I had installed Voodoo (which turned out to be bad mojo). Not realizing that Voodoo would screw up my whole file system if I ever tried to install an update, I naively installed the DI01 when it first arrived and my downhill spiral was thus guaranteed. DL09 update failed (constant update reinstall), EA28 update failed (constant reboot failure). Eventually I managed to get these updates to install but the ED01 was the final straw. Updates would no longer successfully implant into the OS. Well, after backing up everything and flashing the old DL09, then jumping through the update hoops, and a complete app restore with Titanium, I am back in business! Maybe the new phone they send me will have a GPS that works? Not likely but I can still dream, right?

Moral: If you can remember to undo Voodoo lagfix when applying updates, then you are safe using it. For the rest of us, perhaps it's better to leave that to people with far better organization skills.

So, I don't know if this is an Amazon market thing or if it's a stock Froyo thing.

I returned my phone to stock, got the OTA updates, restored my apps with Titanium backup. Weather Bug Elite worked fine, all my other apps from Amazon had "There was an error, please download the app again." on load. I figured, okay, maybe they don't restore well. Uninstalled, redownloaded... still doesn't work. Dumped the amazon market cache so I could make sure it was grabbing a new copy of the apk instead of reinstalling the previously downloaded one. Same error. It's happened with multiple apps. Only weather bug elite, angry birds seasons, and that grocery list app that they had for free a couple days ago seem to be unaffected. And it isn't just affecting restored apps. I installed a couple new things AFTER the OTA update, and it happens with them too.

Anyone have any ideas, or is this completely an Amazon thing? Do I have to go bug them?

Froyo 2.2 update

After OTA update, my battery doesn't last nearly as long as it did with 2.1 (Huh). Also I keep getting an error saying No SD card inserted or Insert Memory Card before using Camera (Really disturbing) anyone else having problems like this. I have read on here that doing a factory reset will cure most problems, anyone know how to do this and will I loose any contact info, pictures, videos???
