Problems formatting SD card in 7.1.1

I purchased a Lenovo Tab 4 with android 7.1.1. Unable to add sd card. If I use a new card (tried several) I get the message "corrupt card - erase and format?" When I click yes, I get a quick pop-up message saying something like "error(some numbers)partition(some more letters and numbers)". If I try with a card that was used in previous android 5 tablets, I get the message "new card detected-set up? Erase and format?' When I click yes, I get the same message as before. If I format a card on a laptop as Fat32 and insert the card, I get the same first message.

Maybe this card has corrupted,and unusable and you should try a new card and see.

It sounds as if the card socket is bad, missing a pin somewhere. The tab probably has to go into a repair shop.
@Jason1357: He said that he used 2 cards, one of then known good.

This is a little late on this thread but I solved the problem by formatting the SD card on a PC doing a full format in the exFAT format.... This insured that the file structure is what the tablet wants to see... and not a quick format that could be part exFAT and part FAT.
