Re: [PSA] Rooting the new 2.3 is not possible, yet. Read on...

i would greatly apperciate it if someone could direct me towards a guide on how to do this... or write a guide..

the last guide for 2.2 was great, and right when i was going to give it a try i decided to update to gingerbread and then root it.... 2 months later i'm so excited that its finally possible!

It isn't hard to get S-OFF with it. For those that want to see how it goes here is a vid. It isn't the EVO but the procedure should be the same.

How To Gain S-Off, Flash a Custom Recovery, and Root Your Android Device (Revolutionary Method) - YouTube

Following the steps in this video worked great. Had root in 15 mins. Installing Cyanogen now. It feels good to be back.

Make sure you donate even if it is just a few bucks. The Devs deserve our support.

be patient with the steps. the root took mine 3 minutes with no indication of it actually working until the end.

the recovery took 30 seconds to load the first time.

Worked for me. Failed to flash the recovery the first time but I just ran the tool again and it worked. Make sure you have usb debugging and the adb drivers installed.

Rooted and everything working perfectly !(:
Already flashed and thats working also, thank you Dev team !

Hey all!

I decided to run the tool after I lost my root when I updated like an idiot. It got to "Waiting for fastboot..." and got stuck. The phone is at fastboot. I can move the selected thing up and down with the volume keys. It's been there for about 10 minutes. I'm using Ubuntu 11.04 (on a Cr-48, if that matters).

Any ideas, guys? I'm scared to unplug it.

For those who do not know the serial is EXTREME case sensitive And S- is Freaking OFF and I Now have Root on my 2.3.3, Next step "DoNaTion"

So basically, install the drivers, uninstall the htc sync, run revolutionary, install super user, then flash clockwork recovery?

Dont mean to beg here... But...

Im begging somebody who has a evo and has done revolutionary to write a guide. It's a simple process so it shouldnt be hard, and ill help support the questions that come in. Any takers?

Not to sound too noobish, but do I accept the OTA update and then do the steps at the xda link or just do those to my rooted EVO?
