I could swear it was HTC that said they wouldn't be locking down their bootloaders.

Without root I wanna throw my phone against the wall. I'm tired of stock bloatware and slow stock rom

For warning i will be closing all thread asking about how to root or anything to do with rooting the new update. Post in this thread about it ONLY. No need for 50 threads of a similar topic.

Now on to the information about it.

Everyone who is rooted should know that you DO NOT accept OTA updates, we use rooted versions of the update instead. Accepting the update will cause you to lose root, and in this case, you cannot even reroot afterwards.

In this latest update was a new bootloader along with 2.3.3 gingerbread. Gingerbread can be rooted on other devices using gingerbreak which is a script that uses an exploit to gain root. The same developer made rageagainstthecage which is used in Z4 root. Z4 root will obviously not work with gingerbread.

When i get a chance ill mess around with gingerbreak to see if we can get temporary root on 2.3.3, but until a developer cracks the bootloader roms are not possible.

No you cannot roll back to 2.2, it will give you a main version update is older error. Dont bother trying.

When full root is possible, you will know, trust me.

Have a good day :)

I was wondering if its ok to put the patch that Sprint has sent out for 2.3.2 or should I wait ? It's making me crazy not being able to root this phone. Thx and peace

I don't see why not. It doesn't change the boot version just some glitches from my understanding

Has anyone heard anything the wait is killing me!!

I know, I'm in the same boat (again!)

Had my EVO initially, and didn't root, but then went from 2.1 to 2.2 and had to wait for root. Then I've had root since about September (?) of last year, but now my EVO got fried and I had to get a replacement, which has 2.3.3 on it and I've gotta wait for root AGAIN! :-(

It'll come along, I'm sure. Just frustrating in the meantime.

I know how you guys are feeling, back when I was a noob I rooted 2.1 then loaded up a unrooted leaked version of 2.2 and couldn't root for 2 months.

In otherwords, this wait could be awhile for you.

Nope I'm sure you will see many post in this forum and a sticky.... patients is a virtue. I don't know much and it will be my first time rooting I finally deciding after getting my phone replaced. But all I know is we all have to wait until someone finds a way and there many post and stickies about it.

Two months :o Well I guess that gives me time to play more with my Xoom, then I can decide whether I want to keep or return it.

I love my EVO but if it gets close to two months I'll have an EVO 3D instead of waiting...

Re: [PSA] Rooting the new 2.3 is not possible, yet. Read on...

Ive had it. Im switching back to my LG Optimus S. This is taking a long time lol. I swear HTC said they were not gonna lock their devices anymore... I may sell my EVO just for the heck of it.

Might be a dumb question, but has this one been the toughest one to crack for the EVO to date?

Re: [PSA] Rooting the new 2.3 is not possible, yet. Read on...

people need to find out how to do this already, its basically figured out for the 3d :'(
