Its also because a lot if the devs have moved on to the evo 3d and not much attention is being given to rooting the 4G.

I seriously hope someone comes through with a 2.3.3 root. I was not even considering upgrading the EVO 4G, but after the replacement EVO, the stock ROM is just so slow and doesn't do what I'm used to my phone being able to do. It's so dumbed down now.
Maybe I should skip to the EVO 3D (even tho I don't think I'd be using the 3D that often) just to get a rooted system.

I was looking at the 3d version two days ago and its nice but I like my bigger screen on the evo 4g. Also the 3d looks nice but it looks funny and hurts my eyes and many other people two that I spoke to at the sprint store. They all told me to stick with the 4g but I want root =/ lol

It does really suck having a stock device. It is just so slow I can hardly stand it. Once you have had a rooted device with CM7 or other fast ROMs, it is hard to go back to stock. Not to mention many of the features that do not work with a stock Sense device. I juse voice actions a lot and many of them do not work properly on the the stock Evo. I was not going to upgrade until Ice Cream Sandwich was released, but my enjoyment of my device has greatly decreased since the warranty replacement and loosing root.
I am going to try to tough it out until the end of the month, but if more progress is made on the 3D than the 4G I may upgrade.
I am glad I have this site to vent. My wife just does not understand the pain I am in. :'(

Haha mine doesn't either! Then again, she came to the Evo from a 3 year old Palm Centro. She's still in ignorant bliss!

Maybe its just me then because the screen to me really does look smaller. I know the specs say the same but for some reason it just seems smaller lol seems weird.
Edit : I think, I am thinking of the Evo Shift which is smaller. But the 3d aspect of the Evo3d did bug my eyes. Sorry

Still no updated info? I check unrevoked but never see anything... Same with all the other sites. Its a Shame if everyone gave up and went to the 3d.

yeah pretty sad indeed. I upgraded from an LG Optimus S rooted and flashed with the Scott Pilgrim Mod. I sure miss it.. got the Evo 4g out of the box and much to my suprise it was updated to 2.3.3 already I sure with I had gotten it with the Froyo instead of Gingerbread.
Also does anyone know if its common on the Evo 4g to have your battery drain 10% within 20 minutes of it being unplugged? after that it seems to hold the battery pretty well and I dont really need to charge it for the day unless I am constantly on it browsing or playing games. I just noticed it drops 10% within minutes of being unplugged and its kinda got me wondering.. I have most everything turned off besides Mobile Network. 4g is disconnected, Display is set to low, and I use Task Manager once in a great while to make sure a few programs arent scanning

You could've been looking at the 3D as well. The aspect ratio of the screen is different than the 4G. The 3D has a taller and more narrow screen, giving that appearance. When I first played with the 3D, I noticed this as well, but at the end of the day, it's still a huge screen
Oh and to uh stay on topic... still no root for 2.3.3. :'(

Just came from Scott pilgram too.....and yeah, when charging my updated replacement POS EVO while the phone is on, same thing happens to me. But if I power down before charging, I don't get the instant 10% drop......

No word on whether the unrevoked team is working on it, i know teamwin has peaked into it but obviously their main project is rooting the 3D.
Hopefully the bootloader will get unlock via HTC's promise to unlock all bootloaders. Dont hold your breath, though.

Whatever. I'm fine. I'm not gonna root this phone. I see no reason to anyways. If google can't get its activities together and make a better stock phone than the iphone, than so be it. I'll just use this phone as is.
