I just bought this phone about a month ago. I had the choice of buying 3d . I thought in my mind I have no use for 3d its a freaking phone for gods sake. And at the time without investigation of the OG EVO for some reason I was positive this phone could be rooted. I had 30 days to return the phone in good shape and get the 3d. But over this last month I waited for the exploit for the OG EVO's exploit. Well my 30 days are up I hope I didn't make the mistake by not getting the 3d.

I hate that ppl have this thought that the 3D "Features" on the Evo 3D is the only thing on the phone.... I'll tell you that 1. the 3D is very nice at the right angle... 2. I have not used the 3D "FEATURES" of the phone in about 3 weeks. 3. Besides the 2 cameras on the back you can make it the Evo 2 if you so choose by not using the 3D Features..

I don't think anyone who has an Evo 3D bought it because of the 3D "Features" Correct me if i'm wrong but that's what seems to be the case for 99.5% of Evo 3D owners...

We are now fully rooted and S-Off'ed and flashing away like crazy. So please if you have a choice do not count out the 3D, it really is a great phone.

ps... I'm not trolling.. My mom inherited my Evo 4G and I still regularly update and reflash roms for her. I loved my 4G dearly.. It was the first phone that I really had a hard time giving up (which is why I chose to deny $$$ and keep it in the family.

Sorry for the rant! And I too hope that the find an exploit for you all as well...

You can disable the 3D features, and the Evo 3D is much more powerful than the 4G.

I also got a 4G last month, but it was a gift, so I'm not going to complain that I could have gotten something better.

How sad... I just wish I never did the OTA Update. Every since then, I constantly get sense reboots. I even cleared up about 80 Mb of space just in case that was the issue.

I dearly hope root gets here soon, the way my Evo is behaving as of lately (very very slow) I am tempted to trade it off!

Thanks for bringing this back to the subject. If I wanted to discuss other phones, I'd go to their forums.

My wife and I wound up getting replacement Evos last weekend, but both came with the update installed. Even the rep helping me was crossing his fingers when he was booting it up!

Back to waiting patiently...

Now does this make sense to anybody? Getting an RUU from a 2.2 release using that to UN update your phone and then rooting it? I saw it in the link below and was just curious on what everybodys opinions would be.

I am thinking its worth a shot....I shattered my screen on my old EVO and had to do an insurance replacement and well I guess for the mass public its great that its shipped with 2.3.3 but for me it sucks!

That guy is playing games. There has been numerous people that tried to run the ruu with no avail. Why? Because the bootlaoder is not downgradeable. HTC made it that way.

It isn't hard to get S-OFF with it. For those that want to see how it goes here is a vid. It isn't the EVO but the procedure should be the same.
