I had been considering getting a N4, especially after an unusual instance the other day that literally screamed "GET ME!!"

But, my ex-fianc?e recently got the LG Optimus L9...and except for the JB update not working ( the restart & install button you're prompted to touch never even appears), it's pretty awesome. Which one would be a better choice to get? The L9 or N4?

If we're just talking specs, 2 gb ram on the n4 vs. 1 gb ram on the L9, which translates to smoother multitasking. The N4 has a Quad-Core processor at 1.5ghz (With one of the best GPUs on the market right now) on the N4, with the L9 running a Dual-Core TI at 1 GHz, with last years common GPU. Display size is the same, but the N4 has a 768x1280 resolution, while the L9 only has a 540 x 960 screen.

Also the N4 will always have the latest and greatest version of android directly from google.

I say the Nexus wins.

Nexus, no doubt.

you're asking this question in a Nexus 4 forum on whether or not to get a Nexus 4......obviously we're gonna tell you to get a Nexus 4!!! lol

Get the nexus killer 4.
Yes I know that was lets say a horrible statement.
Be better then your ex and get the next best thing the Nexus.
I suck at this... the point is the nexus is better :D

Nexus 4 for sure. Plus you won't have to sign a contract.

If you want a phone that will get quick updates from Google, the Nexus 4 is for you. The hardware of the phone is still good (2 gb ram, S4 Pro CPU, 720p screen, etc.). The camera is ok, not spectacular. I think what you get for the price is excellent.

If accessories matter to you, N4 sales volumes have reached the point where vendors are comfortable cranking out a decent selection of cases, etc. at a wide variety of prices.

The "Pure" experience sells itself.

T-Mobile has Nexus 4 in-house. You could drop by a T-Mo store and try them both out before deciding. :) (Assuming you live in the US, of course.)

Ex killer? Not sure if I even want to know :)

I would go with the nexus. Better hardware and guaranteed (should get 2 big updates, not guaranteed of course *face palm*) updates for at least two years. Not to mention not as costly to replace without insurance if you break/lose/gets stolen.

Better hardware, eh? Thanks, folks. I just needed to know for certain.

When did Google say that? I'm certainly hoping that that's the case, but I've never read anything from Google promising it.

No but looking at the past Nexus phones, I don't think 2 years or better said 2 big updates should be a issue. So maybe guaranteed wasn't the best word, but judging by the previous Nexus phones I would say the chances are looking pretty good.

Nexus One. Released with 2.1. Official updates stopped with 2.3.3. Unofficially can run ICS at least, wouldn't doubt there are JB roms out there but not sure on that.

Nexus S released with 2.3. Was updated with 4.0(ICS) and ended officially with 4.1.2. There are 4.2 Roms out there of course.

Galaxy Nexus. Released with 4.0, has been updated to 4.1 and 4.2 and no official word that updates will stop from Google yet.
