Experts.. Please clarify this..

I know that unlike nexus 6p, the screen must be turned on for the fingerprint scanner to work on v10. Also I know that knock to wake up the screen function is also available on v10.

So, is it possible to just tap the screen while keeping the finger placed on the reader to unlock the screen? Is this an easier alternative to pressing the power button and unlocking by finger print reader?

Thanks in advance!

I just tested and it does work that way but I don't see it being any easier than just powering on and unlocking with a single power button press. Maybe I'm misunderstanding the question?

Thank you very much.. I think you got my question fine. I just thought it is better to wake up screen by tapping the screen rather than pressing the button to avoid long term wear n tear..

One more question.. I guess it is not possible to use fingerprint reader to unlock specific apps right? I am using a third party app on Samsung Note 4. Is there any such app for LG phone?

Currently it looks like it can be used to lock 2 types of apps/content: Gallery and QuickMemo+.

I've used the Finger Print Security app on Sammy for a while now and am dying that LG has not opened its scanner to third parties yet. Same with Last Pass. Without third party access to the scanner, it's a toy, not a feature.

As a toy, it works incredibly well...much better than Sammy and, frankly, more reliable than Apple. But until they allow third party access, it's still just a toy. Hopefully they will.

Does anyone know where fingerprints are stored withSamsung devices? On the device or on their servers? Any documentation to verify it?

It has to be on the device, otherwise you wouldn't be able to unlock your phone without a data connection, like in airplane mode.
