RCS Messaging

I have had my S20U since March and have seen one RCS text. In Google Messages the text turned darker blue rather than the dull blue. Literally 1 single text.

Samsung Note 9/ Tmobile (Android messages) to Tmobile branded Samsung Galaxy S8+ (Samsung messages) tested today and RCS works from both sides.

Now I can use Android Messages due to the online web texting function. I have been holding off until RCS works between the 2 messaging apps.

Is the GS8+ carrier locked, or unlocked?

I love using RCS. I am using it with Samsung stock app on S10+ but when I was setting it up on a friend's phone the other day I had to install Google messages. She has an S8. It would be good if her stock app updates but she is happy using the Google app for now.

Does it work between your Samsung app and the Google app?

Which variant do you have? Is it unlocked? I have not seen chat features on my stock Samsung app on my AT&T locked variant. Just the crappy Advanced Messaging.

I forgot but does it not work on unlocked? I'm with Verizon. Been using Textra got Google didn't notice a difference maybe the other people didn't have it yet but I went back to Textra. Today I got a cool theme and went back to stock messages. And then I came across this thread and had forgotten about RCS but I want to say people said ti didn't work with unlocked or maybe it did if the carrier supported it I can't remember.

It works with Google messaging with my unlocked device on Verizon. I don't have it on Samsung messaging yet.

OK thanks I couldn't remember. So it will eventually work on an unlocked with Verizon? I don't know I didn't know how to tell that it was working with Google maybe because the other person didn't have it I don't know. I don't really understand it I guess.

With Google you usually activate it in the settings. I assume at some point we will get the Samsung version.Screenshot_20200515-230436_Messages.jpeg

My son has a Note10+ and Google Messages say chat is unavailable for his device. He's Verizon as I am.

For Google messages it shouldn't matter. I think Google turned on the RCS flag irrespective and got tired waiting for the crappy carriers.

From what I have read RCS chat should work with Google messages on any Android phone irrespective of carrier.

Not the S20 on FirstNet
