RCS Messaging

Yeah that's what I thought and he/she says doesn't work. Weird !!

Lol. I'm a he. So, I had the At&t S10 before the S20 and it worked fine. I now have an At&t S20 on FirstNet. I have carrier services, Android task manager also and it just won't work. I've tried everything.

Its supposed to work without carriers.. but i just reading the app info in play store , it states supported carriers. So this is news to me as they stated in beginning no intervention from carriers on this .

I think the app states that because it's not turned on in all regions across the world, and in some countries it depends on carriers. But in the US they said it's independent of carriers and you just need Google messages app and carrier services.

But who knows this RCS thing is a mess in general.

Yeah lol now I'm confused from what they orginally said .

I'm not sure that it should make a difference, bit is it a carrier branded model?
Mine is carrier branded S20U and Google Messages chat feature says Connected. My son has a carrier branded Note10+ and Google Messages says feature not available.

Mine doesn't seem to work either. Does it come with an update or should it just work. I also downloaded Google Messages but keep getting this message.

Which variant do you have? Is it unlocked? I have not seen chat features on my stock Samsung app on my AT&T locked variant. Just the crappy Advanced Messaging.
Advanced messaging is RCS on my phone. It says chat settings. That is RCS. I am unlocked

In order to make RCS work. You need to check the following. That you have carrier services installed. You need that app installed. If it is installed you need to clear the cache and data in carrier services. Then clear cache and data in messages app force stop messages. Restart the phone and run the messages app. It should then tell you it has new features. Once it has fully setup you should then have chat services connected show up in Google messages.

With Google you usually activate it in the settings. I assume at some point we will get the Samsung version.View attachment 320522

I think I did that! I'll look again but I just got a cool theme I like so I am using Samsung stock messages and keyboard right now. Whenever I speak a text though it says saving audio to my Gmail address that's weird. My next phone will be Verizon I think not unlocked. I know I am staying with them now.

I did all that before and it said it was working in Google Messages but I honestly couldn't tell a difference and didn't care for Google. I didn't use it long enough I guess, But I just figured whoever I was texting had to have it also. And I just quit using it plus I use Facebook Messenger more. I may try it again at some point. I remember downloading the carrier thing and I had the settings on Google Messages.

Did that all step by step. Didn't work. I don't think on FirstNet it is capable with the S20.
