Received Official Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OTA this morning

I disagree with you 100% and your analogy is childish. But to each their own.

And ultimately you're wrong because I tried it and it didn't work. So you can disagree with facts but then you're just a republican and there is nothing more embarrassing than or childish than that.

lol im childish because I am a Republican? Awesome. All I am saying is it worked for me and made a difference and could for someone else too. You really need to grow up a bit, unless you are 15, which I am starting to suspect.

Sadly I'm not 15 but was acting childish (so easy to do on an anonymous forum!). Let's respect the moderator's wishes and move on.

So after still not having the update I decided to give this a try. I did it about 5 times, once a minute, and nothing. I then decided to turn off mobile data FIRST, and then do these steps. BINGO!

Hopefully this helps someone out there because it worked for me. And for those that say this trick is a coincidence, I do not think so. There is no coincidence in trying to push it to your phone. If you want this update sooner than later, use this tactic.

Good luck.

I'll de damned. This worked for me.

North Carolina - Got mine a few minutes ago! yehaww! so far I love it, graphics noticeably better resolution, everything seems faster, idk, maybe it's just my excitement, by Wednesday I'll prolly be like, "Meh, whatever" ...... My big question: Has the radio improved? hopefully, fingers crossed!

I just got the update after trying the "trick" about 10 times. Whether or not it is coincidence, it matters not because I'm a happy camper now!

So true. Enjoying Jelly Bean, I am experiencing a noticeable improvement in speed with less lag. Google Now is also lots of fun to play with.

Okay I have to disagree a little... the trick definitely worked for 4.0.4 right?

So maybe whatever it was that made it work then has been changed in the rollout.

But it definitely worked in the past (trust me I was skeptical but it was really a shock seeing it work)

This "trick" has been advocated for a long time... and I remember hearing of Verizon techs recommending this step to get their updates (though this is a Google update)

Also, remember, the trick started working a couple days after the update pushed...

I feel that they make it available prior to actually pushing it... and I think the "trick" only helps cause your phone to check if you have already pushed the update button

No, it didn't. That is why I started saying then that it was just coincidence. I tried the "trick" on mine and my wife's phone for 2 days and it didn't work. My update came up after a couple hours of just letting it sit and then just hitting Check For Updates, and my wife's came up automatically about 6 hours later.

FWIW, I have tried this method a bit yesterday with my wife's phone (mine is rooted and rom'd) and still nothing.

It doesn't work. If it did work, it would work for everyone, every time.

So being out of options I tried the method everyone is talking about.
My second try I was downloading jelly bean so it does work just mess with it a bit. If it doesn't say last checked 1969 you're doing something wrong.

Again, just because it "works" for you after trying this, doesn't mean anything because there are plenty of other people who it doesn't work for.

This update is over WiFi only. So your logic does not make much sense. What's the difference between downloading it to a computer and installing it to the phone vs downloading it to the phone via WiFi and installing in place?
.

I don't have wifi.... so does that mean I'll never know when the update is available for my phone?

Thanks! :)
