hi all.. as the z5c is not officially released in US.. there is always a risk... please let me know what's the best (reliable) online store to shop for it..does any store offer return policy and third party warranty?

thanks!

I responded in the other thread but will post here as well..

I bought mine from Amazon but Expansys also sells them in the US.

The Amazon sellers say no warranty but that is not entirely true. I called Sony and inquired about this... Here is the gist of it: If purchased from Amazon then you'd need to send the unit back to it's county of origin for warranty work. For instance, mine is a Hong Kong unit so if I need service I'd need to contact Sony HK and pay to ship it to them. Expansys offers their own warranty so to speak. What they do is you'd send it to them and then they'd do what I stated above for you..

I bought from Clove technology in the UK. Also Handtec is reliable and I've bought from them before. Never had to send back so I'm not sure about warranty bit they have the info on their site I'm sure.

thanks for the info on warranty. mine broke down and now wont turn on, and the company I purchased from amazon says they cant do anything about it and want to charge me 100 bucks to fix it, the phone is not even 2months old. I will try calling sony hong kong tomorrow and see if I can get it fixed by sony. but thanks for the info, made my day!

Not sure if that is entirely true. I bought a z3c for my ex gf on the grey market before it was officially sold here and she's sent it in twice. Once for warranty and one for repair (cracked screen). She wasn't even charged for the cracked screen either but that may have been sure to a mix up on Sony's end as they sent her phone back without repairing it at first because she didn't respond to an email right away (not like she had a phone that notified her of new mail). Frankly I'd just play dumb and call Sony US. I do acknowledge that the z5 series still isn't officially available here, so they may not be able to accommodate a repair at this point.

The difference is the Z3C was sold in the US by Sony. I am only passing on what Sony US told me. As soon as you mention it's a Z5C to Sony US, they will slam on the brakes. Mention Z3C and they will set up a warranty ticket. Personally, I think Sony US should still help but they told me they won't and I doubt they will since the phone is not sold in the US.

I guess the easy solution is to call Sony US before contacting your devices region..

It will be interesting to see if Sony US will offer warranty support to those of us who purchased imported models. Sony US has always been helpful and accommodating but I say that because I purchased my previously owned Z3 and Z3C through the Sony US store..
