Update, I was just told by a Verizon Employee the date is DEC 13TH... They are not sure why the 9th was delayed. They just got a email from upper management!
How do stores that aren't in 4G areas activate 4G phones if they need LTE to do it? Do they have some kind of 4G receiver/antenna/wired connection just for the store?

When they give me free service I'll start agreeing with you on the "entitlement" label.
Paying $250 a month for 24 months on a multi-line is so far away from "entitlement" that it's laughable.
In fact, its about the price of a used Honda Civic.
As far as the "smarter" goes, speak for yourself on that one.
That's odd, I just called and tried to order over the phone, just as I have every day this week and I was told by the rep I talked to that " They are not taking pre-orders on this phone and I can get it at a retail outlet or purchase online on Friday"....
That conversation took place at 3pm EST.
My hope - it's due to the LTE outage, they fix it, and release the damn phone on Friday. Wishful thinking much?

Who says they're losing any sales? There is no GNex for the other carriers, some people are buying the Razr or Rezound. Everyone else is still waiting for this and ing on Bulletin Boards. You guys are not going to another carrier and as soon as you get one you'll be ing about why isn't Jelly Bean out and on my phone already.

I went to one of the local Verizon stores during lunch today and asked to talk to the manager. I asked him to help me understand why Verizon was doing such a crappy job managing information about the release of this phone. He gave some corporate answer about no release date being announced. When I continue to pressure him he tried to tell me that it was a NFC hardware issue, which he probably wasn't expecting me to know enough on the subject to call BS on it. Then he reverted back to the standard corporate lackey answer. When I told him that I was thinking about abandoning Verizon and along with countless others taken my business elsewhere. He surprised me when he said that they weren't interested in losing 75% of their customer base, which seems like a stretch to me though this may well be their Netflix moment.
A widespread data crash is probably a valid reason for a delay. Although something tells me that if it's fixed by tonight or tomorrow there may be a launch on Friday or Monday. Not exactly a big deal. Now if Verizon doesn't launch it for over a week and this gets fixed relatively soon, then I'm running out of ways to justify these "delays".

My Verizon store received only 20 nexus phones. That's the same amount of bb storms they received when it was first released. If they don't get anymore supply before Christmas then this phone will hopefully go for 900 on eBay (if the release is anything like the first bb storm). I think it will be because it has a lot of hype and controversy and that's what sells. I think this phone will be the hottest item and most wanted this Christmas. Congrats to Verizon I hope I can pocket an extra 500 after selling it on eBay lol

Just went into a store here in Northeast Nebraska and was advised that it was supposed to come out tomorrow but it's been delayed until who knows when. The market is not huge here and if they were told "NO" on this week, I am guessing that its a no. I was also told that they have it in stock, just no date to release it. (I know I am not adding much to this discussion, but I thought I would share)

I highly doubt there is a supply-side problem.
I've lost all LTE connections on 3 mobile broadband devices in Denver (2 different USB LTE Devices, 1 LTE Hotspot) for the last 2 hours.
Although a colleague with a Droid Charge is having no issues.

Im getting tired of this. Yeah, whatever, I get it, they didn't say anything about a date at all. Im not tired of being lied to or anything. Im tired of waiting for SOMETHING to happen. Anything. Come on Verizon.
I really hope its something with the data network. I would really hate for there to be a reason directly to the Nexus itself.
