Regarding Dec. 9 no longer being the unofficial date

Not entirely on topic, but semi-related if it has to do with the delay: My Charge now has no data whatsoever. This morning it reverted to 3G, now I have no data at all. I can't imagine the Nexus being delayed because of this, other than for the "check out this awesome new phone that doesn't work right now" thing.

It's my understanding the phone can't be activated if it can't connect to the LTE data network. If they're having issues, imagine the nightmare of a store full of people who can't activate a purchase.

And yet other phones continue to sell...

Can anyone give me a quick recap of where we stand now? Unknown? 13th? Any hope of Friday left? Thanks in advance.

How could that be true, lots of areas dont have LTE yet? but we can buy the phones there. I live in Vermont, theres no LTE anywhere near here, but i still will get a nexus.

At this point Friday (as far as we know) is out. Reps are calling people saying they can no longer honor that date for sale/activation. The 13th is being kicked around now, but probably won't gain traction until either A) Verizon says something (yeah right), or B) Friday comes and goes with no Nexus launch.

My opinion, no one knows when it is coming, why it is delayed, or anything else. All leaks lead to nowhere...

My data went out as well... went for a run on the treadmill and all data just stopped working. Sux, cause i watch netflix while i run. I got data back eventually, but I rebooted a bunch of times, reflashed the ROM, reflashed the kernel, airplane mode... threw the kitchen sink at it and it finally has data back. I'm in S.Fla. First outage I've experienced with this phone.

It just needs cellular data, not LTE. LTE does make things much faster though.

Apple does all their stuff in house. This can't be said about the Galaxy Nexus. This is an operating system developed by a US company, then pushed to a South Korean based company to build hardware for it, then finally back to Verizon for testing on their network.

Apple also doesn't have to worry about the operating system working amongst 100+ different devices like Google does when they release a new update to Android. It's impressive what Apple does, but they build harware and software that revolve around each other. Android is an operating system that is getting pushed amongst hundreds of different devices.

(Thanks brinox, I was thinking Sony)

uh what? your first paragraph is exactly what Apple does. their hardware is manufactured by Samsung for the most part. it's not all in house anymore buddy.

your second paragraph is just as bad. the Nexus was created to work with Ice Cream Sandwich. right now you could actually say that this OS is only for the Nexus because no other device has Android 4.0. the Nexus' is built around hardware and software that revolve around each other.

where do they find these guys?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure this is a big factor.

Basically, if we want the Nexus this Friday, we need their LTE engineers to fix the network ASAP.

lol 4G is not out nationwide.

the rumor mill here is worse than the hens at work.

May not be nationwide as in every single person but reports from LA, CA to NYC, NY are reporting outages currently. I'd consider that nationwide...my Xoom has no data in MD....

If they are having a major outage I could understand nor releasing the device.. Nothing worse then a bunch of frustrated customers! But then again we are frustrated now LMAO

@NegriElectronics says they are still hearing the 9th for their shipment of devices and will keep people updated. This could just be smoke being blown up someone's arse.

I'd be totally content to get a Galaxy Nexus on Friday even if the LTE was still out. I run my phone mainly on 3G and only turn on the LTE when I'm doing something that is data intensive.

That son of a gun!

I didnt read through all the pages to see if this was already mentioned but, didnt p3Droid already tell us the the TARGETED date was the 9th, but the date range could be anywhere from the 8th-13th?

Seems he was dead on ..... again

Not true at all. I activated my Bionic in a 3G area.

From my experience a 4g outage will affect a 4g device even if 4g is turned off. My Xoom won't work at all even with 4g off, my gf's Droid is fine....
