Regarding Dec. 9 no longer being the unofficial date

I'm in SW VA and have had 4G all day. Could be that VZW needs a network fix for the roll-out since an OTA is required for ICS.

Again.... how would this be handled in areas that don't have 4G anyway? Serious question.

Amen, brother. Release the phone. It'll be a year or more before I get 4G coverage.... you guys can survive for a few days without it.

I would love to have the phone with or without 4G, but there's a lot more to it than that. Releasing a phone that doesn't fully work would make Verizon, Samsung, and Google look bad. I don't think this will be a huge delay for the Nexus.

OK. Here's where things stand now so much as I know ...

  • The LTE hiccup isn't the reason for any delay.
  • As of right now, there is no delay because there's no official date. The Dec. 9 that started popping up on the inventory screens shouldn't have been there because there's been no official date announcement. So it's no longer there.
  • Friday is still possible. And you know what? That's not crazy since we know they're in stores. We know accessories are in stores.

At this point, I recommend a little chillaxin' :p
As stated above, not due to the LTE hiccup! Anything new Phil?

I just want VZW to come out with a date so everyone can stop going nucking futs!!!

My local Verizon retail store (Watchung, NJ) confirmed over the phone that the Friday launch was in fact cancelled. Much like other posters are reporting, the sales rep told me the following:

1.) G-Nex was previously scheduled to go on sale this Friday (units in stock)

2.) Launch was cancelled for reasons unknown

3.) No timetable re: Galaxy Nexus availability

LTE devices are weird about this. Usually when you lose 4g the 3g doesn't work right/at all either. I don't know if this is just from 3g/4g towers or what but like I mentioned my xoom isn't working at all even with 4g turned off, my gf's og Droid is working fine on 3g....

I just hope their aren't anymore nexus shipments till after Christmas. My buddy said he couldn't tell if they were 16 or 32 gig. All twenty were packaged together. The store manager took the demo phone home for some odd reason as well so he couldn't play w it. That sucks because I wanted to play w it.

In DeKalb, IL went to the Verizon store today. 2 employees told me they have the Nexus in stock and are just waiting for the go ahead. They said it was supposed to be released tomorrow but today it got postponed(they didn't know why). They had one out for people to look at if asked, so I got about 3 minutes of hands on experience with it :) I was actually considering the Razr if the delay took much longer, but coming from a Pre+ I want the multitasking features of ICS now rather than later. I like card view and swiping away my apps.

Sorry for repeating what everyone already knows, but I figured I'd share my experience and add another confirmation of the postponement.

Just returned from my local Costco store. They say they will have it for sale on Friday for sure.

Uggghhh. This phone will be obsolete before its released (assuming they move the date again)

Considering most phones are "obsolete" by the time they are released the above doesn't say much. The Nexus will be more "current" a lot longer than any of the Droid that are out.

Hell yes. This is a Nexus...it's going to provide us with a happy stock experience that devs will love. Something always is right around the corner, but that something isn't another Nexus.

Once again, I refute this...Same town and I've had 4G LTE all day long...no drops.

How far are you from your tower?

I'm at mcds off ext 5 nothing now my wife has nothing so refute all u want, be my guess come to mcds and I will show u lol.

Could you tell if the phone was 32gig joeN?

Dang it, I was so excited I forgot to look at that. I mostly just opened the camera and browser and swiped around getting a feel for the speed and performance. As well as checked out the build of it. Feels light, plasticy but not fragile, quite sturdy. After looking at the Razr then the Nexus... it still seemed plenty slim for me and I actually prefer the look of the Nexus over the Razr after having seen them both in person. I will probably go back tomorrow to try to see it again and see if they can tell me anything more about a release date or holding one for me.

All the stores in San Diego say Friday or call Thursday.

My data is out in Tampa / St. Pete. Was fine until an hour or so ago. Hoping I can still get this phone before I leave on my cruise next Saturday.

Sent from somewhere using something to send it.
