Registration for "immersive Gear VR experience for $99" - How did it Go

I received notice from fed ex it will be delivered tomorrow. A ticket was created for Brightpoint N.A. last monday, and said would be delivered in 2 days. But fed ex said they havent received a pick up ticket yet. So, it sat in a warehouse in Indiana for a week, for no reason. Anyway, they got pick up ticket on Wed, and will be delivered tomorrow, friday.

I got my email in the afternoon. It showed up in FedEx Delivery Manager first, and then I got an email about 10 minutes later. It seems that when they print the shipping label, it automatically pushes to FedEx and sends an email.

It might look like the orders are fulfilled randomly, but based on what I've seen the past two weeks, it appears it might actually be following a logical order. Approvals happened after the receipt was verified. Some people it was almost instant, others took a few days. I imagine they had some sort of scan on the upload first, and those are who get it almost instant. Those of us that took a few days, it might of had a manual review. So there was a lot of changing "positions" with who did what first.

It also looks like after the approval, where you selected your gift, it possibly reserved it for a period of time so you could then buy it. So all those people trying on the 20th, and getting sold out messages, while the users approved could still buy it on the 22nd/23rd.

There had been some odd behavior in the order status in the app, versus the gift check online. However, it looks like they all are pretty consistent. My online check showed the gift shipped 4 days before it shipped. My app, under promotions is basically blank, and no tracking in the app under orders. I now also see under review in the app, where it used to say approved.

I've spent way too much time reading all of these threads, and the one thing I've come away with is that everyone so far receives it eventually, if they received an order confirmation after paying. Any other combinations of experiences not above hasn't proved too many successful orders going to shipping.

Almost all orders are moving in waves, in order of date. Yesterday had a lot of shipping on people's orders from the 21st, and today the 22nd. I'd expect those who paid on the 23rd, would be up next.

There are always exceptions, but it seems to be moving along in a particular order for most.

I don't have a problem with the ordering or shipping process. The failure was communication on their behalf to set expectations. I cannot imagine them being a restaurant, expecting and having staff for 120 guests for the day and then 15,000 show up. You can't train anyone instantly to cover the deluge of people. The only way to handle it is you communicate and let people know where they stand upfront. You will still have a lot of angry people, and most likely the ones you do serve, get very little service, since you have 9,880 mad people. It is just like the Slickdeals effect, where people or systems just get overwhelmed, and it is impossible to correct immediately. There are limits to people, servers and phone systems. If they simply stated the process upfront, and released some sort of official notice on social media, everyone world be ok and they wouldn't have just had two crazy weeks.

I was ok with whatever, as long as I didn't have $99 tied up or missing. Just not in my nature to stress over what I can't control. I just wanted to save money on a decent package deal if possible.

Everyone that had an order confirmation should be getting shipping info soon. I imagine the bulk of the stock is already shipped, since we are nearing the 23rd orders being shipped out. It will happen soon for almost everyone, bar some exceptions, as happens with large numbers of anything.
My phone was preordered from Sprint, and arrived on the 21st. When i registered the phone, so i could order my promo pkg, it said you could no longer order the $99 gift bundle, as it was sold out. I selected it anyway, and paid my $99. So, my order was received and processed. It is supposed to arrive on 5-5.

Yeah. I did that before. It was a Friday. Missed shipment, called number and had it routed to local FedEx store. Rep said it'll be there next day on Saturday. Went to FedEx store next day and guy at counter said my package wasn't there and won't be there until Monday or Tuesday at latest. I told him what rep told me and he's like no, it takes 1 to 2 business days to reroute to here but normally one. And since it was done on Friday it normally means it's there Monday. Long story short I was very mad. UPS doesn't give me those hassles. But...I think my wife should be home. Hopefully they will wait to get buzzed in for longer than 2 seconds...

That's some crazy stuff right there. I hope you get it tomorrow. The FedEx you today told me he wasn't supposed to deliver until tomorrow but he thought to himself I am so close to the ship center that he delivered it today even though he could get into trouble because Samsung paid for 2 day delivery.

I'm going to jump on the "FedEx sucks" bandwagon. According to their support rep, I have to contact "the shipper" so they can make the arrangement to redirect it to a FedEx store. But my nearest 24-hour FedEx seemed to have stopped being a 24-hour place some time ago. And, because they decided to create the label late Wednesday night, the pickup didn't happen until Thursday, so my scheduled delivery was pushed from Friday to Saturday. The family doesn't want to stay home, and an Indirect Signature is required. They won't accept notes on the door, so it'll be a gamble if I happen to get back home before he attempts delivery between 9AM and 8PM.

Whatever already.

The shipper will NOT change anything about the delivery. I called the warehouse directly Thursday morning and they said Samsung has put those restrictions on there and the warehouse (shipper) can't make any requests to hold for pick up

Ok this is NUTS...In Samsung promotions I am showing as "Gift sent" for over a week. That is for the free set. Then last Friday I followed the link in an email and BOUGHT the $99 one. That total was something like $108 and change. That charge shows as pending in my AMEX for the whole week. My Samsung support account shows NO orders for me at all of either kind. My AMEX paid order has an order number that shows on some other website as paid but no data about shipping or anything else. I sat on phone hold one day for 52 minutes while doing other work and finally gave up.

To top it all off my FedEx delivery manager says I have to try again in 30 days to either add my new address or change my old address.

Why call the act of pissing off your customers a "promotion"? I wish I could just go to the store and buy the damned thing.

This all also have nothing to do with the 6 to 8 weeks. That's all fine. It is more about all the instances of telling me one thing and doing another thing. It's crazy... It feels like no one from Samsung has ever done any of this themselves.

Wow and here I am thinking I'm the only one that registered before it sold out and never received a link via email. Submitted 4/20 Approved 4/22 Processing gift ever since.
I'm in the same boat. I was just freaking out about it until I read this thread. Now I feel a little better about it.

I don't think I've been charged yet. I tight I'd been charged already, but looking through my account, I'm not able to locate the Samsung charge. Supposedly I paid the $106 and change for the $99 bundle.

Has anyone else not been charged yet? Or been charged but it was never taken out of your account? And if so, are you in the same boat (being processed, not yet shipped)?

In shop Samsung app, top of page says approved, but status line underneath says review in progress. Despite the fact that my bundle is on a truck to arrive at my place today. I wouldn't put much faith in their status indicators

Read my previous post for details on my experience.

The wait is over, $99 bundle just arrived.

Really weird experience, after I saw the initial charge on my CC disappear I thought it was over. However, yesterday May 4th, I got an email saying that my order has shipped which was 13 days later after the order confirmed email. Fedex said it was suppose to arrive Monday May 8th, but it arrived today May 5th.

I don't know how I feel about being in the dark for 13 days without any update on my order, maybe Samsung could have handled this differently. Can we be compensated for this?

Good luck to everyone else, be patient. I think if you got an order confirmation it will eventually come.

you might have a chance to pay if you go to "My Promotions" in the Shop Samsung App. I also never got an email, I uninstalled/reinstalled the shop app and when I clicked on the promo it said "Already Registered" then took me to the "Buy Now" page. Hope this helps.

Just got my shipping notification from Fedex. 5lbs!! scheduled for Tuesday delivery. $99 fully immersive bundle.

Registered on April 19th - Received link to pay on April 21st - Paid on April 23rd and received shipping notification on May 6th.

Wow Wow!! What a wait... I hope everyone who wanted this deal gets it - even the ones who did not have a chance to pay yet. It's great value.

Re: Registration for "immersive Gear VR experience for $99" - How did it Go

Finally I have a tracking number. I had my s8 Plus on April 19 and registered for gift that very day. I didn't receive my link to purchase the immersive bundle until April 24th. I had paid the 99 dollars that same day although I remember only registering for the free gear VR, but said what the heck and went ahead and paid the 99 dollars. I will receive it Tuesday thankfully.

All is not lost for all those still waiting. I feel bad for complaining since it only took about 2.5 weeks of agony which is better than 4 to 6 weeks and my true intentions at first was for the free gear VR, but I got lucky with the 99 dollar bundle deal. I was in gift sent status for the past 5 days until I received tracking about 10 minutes ago.

Thanks for the help, unfortunately I tried and it didn't work. So since today is actually the 2 week point since my approval I went ahead and called Samsung. I was told everything went through correctly so they're going to submit a ticket to have an email with the purchase link sent within 48 hours. We'll see.

They won't send it, I have been dealing with them since approval and never receiving the link! That was 2 weeks ago!

I'm definitely not getting my hopes up. I don't even expect to get the free bundle. They have a whole new group of people to deal with for their new infinitely entertaining promotion.
