Registration for "immersive Gear VR experience for $99" - How did it Go

Mine is ordered. I got the payment confirmation and just waiting for it to ship.

Did this just happen for you? After Samsung said the promotion was sold out? I noticed everybody has a unique registration number. Maybe if you got yours in in time they'll still give you the deal. Maybe I'm hoping for too much. lol

I registered for it the night I got my phone (Wed). The next morning around 8 (my time), I got an email saying I had to re-upload my receipt. I uploaded it and 30 min later I got the thank you for registering email.

Around 3:50 AM (my time) this morning, I got the email saying my registration was approved and I could order. I ordered it as soon as I saw the email and received an order# with billing and shipping info. It said that they will let me know when it ships.

I think Samsung is basing it's approval on the date of the pre-order sales receipt, not the date you received the phone and registered for the gift. I paid using PayPal and my PayPal account shows a $103.00 dollar charge to Samsung.
 
Does not matter Best buy and Samsung should know everyone should have a level playing field. It is pretty sad to be 1st to pre order 1st to get into the store when they opened at 10AM (unlike normal stores that open at 8-9) run right home rush the phone loading up skip steps to get the Mac ID then see the top say sold out. I blame them both But Best Buy between opening at 10AM and not letting them go early due to lazyness with them and Samsung is the reason.

Samsung is handling this poorly. Agreed on that. Best buy can't break street date if they aren't allowed to. There are big legal implications to that.

Not yet - I was one of the earliest in the registration process since the phone was received Tuesday (4/18) @12:18pm.

That's why I started this thread and one on Samsung Communities to get others experiences collected in one place.

Still waiting on my last CS email where I passed along all the screen captures for review.

Webpage says Approved. Shop Samsung App now says Under Review (Originally said Approved) so this is a change - hopefully for the better.

But no email and no option on App to pay, yet
 
Well just got a response from my email CS request - it had screen captures from all the steps including copies of Registration Approved, verbiage on selecting Buy Now link (that didn't work).

This CS genius says "Please follow the process below and oh buy the way $99 bundle is no longer available". They didn't even read what I sent.

Will have to escalate now -

I got the same email and have the same exact issue as you. This is BS!
 
I preordered mine through Verizon on April 6th. Got my phone yesterday around 2 and registered via the shop samsung app at 2:45. It said pending all day yesterday and got an email saying it could take 2 weeks. This morning at 9 am I got an email saying it was approved with a link to purchase the bundle. Link didn't work so I checked the shop samsung app and it was in there. So I ordered it through the app and got my confirmation email shortly after. So overall I am happy but very thankful I ran across this thread before I did it so I knew to use the shop samsung app.
 
Such BS ill NEVER ORDER FROM BEST BUY AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Since they would not let them early LIKE EVERYONE ELSE by the time i got home and went to select the 99$ package it is sold out FU Best buy

Your should really show them and return the phone and buy it somewhere else. :confused:

Ummmm why are the screen shots so grain on the S8+?

-nevermind, not sure why its shows it on here so grainy i just texted the screen shot to another phone looks fine...
 
Probably did not help that those of us who were able to buy the bundle could add up to 10 of them at check out kinda messed up if multiple units counted towards to 50k limit
 
I'm personally debating just returning the phone. Selling the gear VR kit once it comes to me would pay for my restocking fee. This experience has left a really bad taste in my mouth
 
Deal's dead now, people. Hope you were able to get in. I didn't, but after hearing some people not liking their AKG Bluetooth headphones, I'll settle getting a 256GB microSD card at a later time.

Wow, glad I got my email and paid this morning. I read some reviews on the Bluetooth headphones on Crutchfield and a lot of people seemed to like them. I'll give them a shot, and if not, I will sell them. I was going to sell most of the stuff anyway as I already have a 256GB card from the Note 7 promotion.

Yes we do. The problem is people like myself who registered early in the day on the 19th never got link to buy it. People who registered AFTER us did get link. Their system was screwed up. Those of us who got screwed are, well screwed. Despite registering in time we apparently can't get it Now. That's what a lot of us in this thread are so peeved about.
