Hi again guys, so, I've been reading recently that many (if not all) headphones that include a remote mic won't work with Android Phones as they would with iPhone, is this true?
I have some wireless beats, but as they are wireless their volume controls wouldn't show problems, however, I got some tour beats for running and working out, and they got a remote mic that worked as advertised with my previous iPhone, but it seems they won't work (at least not the volume control) with my incoming HTC One, and that's quite a letdown, can anyone confirm this?

Summary: Headphone Remote volume controls won't work with anything that isn't an iPhone, iPod or iPad, regardless of brand (Bose, Beats, Etc.), as it seems to be a jack problem not related to Android selling device manufacturers.

If I'm correct, 3 -button remote controllers do not work except for the middle button in Android devices.

(I know that there are apps that can map volume controls in a single button, but I find volume control easier with 3 buttons rather than one.)

Thank you, hope you understanded, english ain't my native language. Cheers.

Yeah it's not a hardware problem. It's different standards used by the companies that make the headphones. Most companies started offering controls specially for iPhone and that's how it stands right now. Android uses standard which causes most headphones to not work.

Sent from my HTC One using Android Central Forums

Three button remotes made for the iPhone will not work on Android, Windows phone, Blackberry or anything else.
For example, Bose sells the MIE2 that work with Android, WP, BB, etc and the MIE2i that are the same in every way, except their remote works with iPod and iPhones.
As you can see on the Bose website below, you have to choose iPhone compatibility or everything else compatibility:
Bose | In-ear headphones | Audio and Mobile Headphones

The only way to get 3 button on an Android is through an app. I believe Klipsch as well as some others make apps for android that add advanced functions to their android compatible earbuds.

Here is a good example.
Image S4A (II) In-Ear Headphones | Klipsch
The Klipsch Image S4A earbuds have a 3 button remote but you have to download the Klipsch Control app for the three button set up to work.

Side note: If you want 3 button buds for your One, you could do worse than the Image S4A. The Image S4 line is very consistently reviewed as the best sounding buds under $100 by many websites, plus you get your 3 button controls.

I think Klipsch S4A II is a one button remote. See this post http://forums.androidcentral.com/htc-one/269737-headphone-controls-3.html#post2720475
