I have a lazy nephew, so i don't know where the value of my uncle picture taking experiences rates in this argument.

I love how the new Note 4 commercials really push the use of the s-pen. I had the Note 3 and used the s-pen like 5 times ever. I am sure that many use it, but I am not artistic so I don't doodle. If I need to input something into my phone, call me crazy but I use a keyboard(Swifkey). I think Samsung knows that the N6 is a beast that is coming for their dollars and they are trying to keep people by using things like the s-pen to keep their customers. Again just my opinion.
That's not true at all in my experience. The Nexus 5 was SMOOTH every single time. There was zero inconsistency in it's performance. I'm actually surprised i'm having to defend it because it was so smooth and consistent. I LOVE my Note 4 and feel like I will be content for a long time with it, however it lags like a mother in quite a few scenarios. Call it lag, call it a pause, call it learning patience, call it santa clause, it's LAG. To me, lag is no big deal because I kinda expect computers to take a bit of time to do things. However the Nexus 5 did not lag once in the 11 months i've owned it.
I owned it for a month and it took the same amount of time to take a pic and see the picture in gallery ...

Samsung has always aggressively advertised the S pen as a big part of the Note series. It's how they distinguish their product from pretty much anything else on the market.
Like you, I never use my S pen, so it's of no value to me. However, I'm sure it's a big part of why many people buy Notes.
No offense because I know different users can have valid, different experiences. But i'll take my 11 months of experience over your 1 month of experience. Mine was spot on every single time. And i'm not giving the Nexus line more credit than it deserves here, because I've got the Note 4 on my desk.
I would of had it longer but no wifi calling and bad battery I had to give it up when I moved to t-mobile ....I only had it like 6 months ago and clearly remember my experience with it ....
Also whatever you want to call it lag or whatever it is intentional since I'm using the Google camera app and it's not there

THANK YOU!!!!! I'm involved in a debate in another thread in the Note 4 forum about a reviewer that wasn't impressed by the Note 4, yet also mentions they NEVER tried the S pen. I get that it's not used by everyone all the time, but Samsung obviously pushes it and invests a ton of their time and money into that feature. Clearly that's what they want to have distinguish the Note line and so like it or not, it's the key feature according to Samsung.
I bought the note 3 because of 2 reasons bigger screen and better battery then the nexus 5. Also had wifi calling but any t-mobile phone has it . Never cared for the s pen and while I rarely use it still on the note 4 still prefer the features like IR blaster

Now that just blew up in LegalAmerican's face... ROFL.
Oh, I'm the one he is debating with in that other thread because I refute his statements that the S Pen is the only reason to buy a Note series phone and that you can absolutely review it without using the S Pen.

Nothing blew up in my face. He was stating the same two things I mentioned in our other thread that I could see someone wanting the Note for. Did you not read my post where I mentioned bigger battery and bigger screen being things I could understand?
And you're just trying to be combative at this point because i've re-iterated at least 3 times to you that I never said the S pen was the only reason to buy the Note. What's your problem? You're ignoring what i'm saying, to try and emphasize what you thought I was saying. Once you raised your concerns with my statements, I clarified them for you. It's SAMSUNG that pushes the S pen, and therefore, any review that doesn't include the features of the S pen is an incomplete review of the Note series. If you review the Note without using the S pen, you're just reviewing the Galaxy S device with a better battery. Is there a reason you refuse to acknowledge that I never said the S pen is the only reason to buy the Note?
I enjoyed reading your feedback, however I was disturbed when you said you hadn't used the S pen so you wont comment on that.
I don't understand why ANYONE would buy the Note series if you aren't going to use the S pen. If you want the Samsung feel, get the S series. If you want a big phone, get one of the many big phones. People buy a Note, and then they compare it to all these other devices, and almost ALWAYS they follow it up with: "I didn't use the Note's biggest strength, so I can't comment on that."
My wife has the Moto X 2014 and the speaker is amazing. I love how snappy it is to use, and she loves it as well. My dad also has that phone and that was my second choice. The Note has good and bad to discuss, but might I recommend trying out the best that the Note has to offer instead of just comparing the best that other phones have to offer to the Note, and not the best of what the Note has to offer to other phones?
Then don't buy a Note! Samsung has chosen to make the Note ABOUT the S pen. If you don't give a hot da** about it, then all i'm saying is don't buy it and then wonder why the device doesn't seem as special as another device that focused on something you require. If I absolutely HAVE to have amazing external speaker quality, I am not going to buy an HTC One and then a Galaxy S5 and compare the two and say that the S5 let me down tremendously. IT didn't. I just didn't do my research and I set it up for failure. Others who might want the kitchen sink in terms of features, would be doing themselves a disservice getting a Nexus and saying it sucks because it didn't do what the S5 did.
I'm no Samsung fanboy, however I am a fanboy of doing research and looking into the strengths of a phone before I choose which one underperforms based on my expectations. That's all i'm saying. I know the S pen isn't for everyone, and those people don't need to buy a Note. If you want the big screen, get the Nexus 6 or the Galaxy Mega or the iPhone 6+ or the G flex, or any number of other big screens that focus on what you do need/want in a device.
You did say that the S Pen was the reason to buy the Note. You clearly said that you saw no reason to buy the Note if you weren't going to use the S Pen and that there were other phones you should instead buy. It's in my replies to you in the other thread when I quoted you.
Multiple people have replied to you saying that they couldn't care less about the S Pen and only after that did you change the tone.

Good idea. So let's say I return the note 4 for a "loaner" phone, like the LG G3. Will I be able to return the G3 within 14 days too?
I think I've decided to pre-order the nexus 6. Like you said want to try out my options. I agree longevity doesn't seem to be there with the note 4. . I should be psyched to have this phone but I was not very impressed at all. Do I like the note 4. Yes. If I paid it out of my own pockets would I be happy with it, hell no.
(my employer reimburse fully my Note 4 purchase)
