Rezound Official ICS Update Shelved?

This thread was mod'ed once to add the question mark (?) to the subject line, thus changing it to a speculative topic.

Isn't it like 3 or 4 serious infractions until you get the forum death penalty? I thought that's how it worked.

I'm a mod on a few car forums and it really depends on the forum itself. Most have a 10-point system, wherein if your infraction points reach 10 you'll be banned until enough expire that you drop below 10 points again. Different infractions are worth different amounts depending on severity of the infraction. For example, on one forum our infractions are as follows:

Title Points Expires Warning
Talking Back 1 6 Month(s)
Comments in Picture Thread(s) 2 6 Month(s)
Harassment -1st Offense 3 6 Month(s)
Signature Violation 3 6 Month(s)
Unnecessary Vulgarity 3 6 Month(s)
Post Whoring to Sell 5 12 Month(s)
Selling Without Sufficient Posts 5 12 Month(s)
Harassment - 2nd Offense 6 12 Month(s)
Harassment - 3rd Offense 10 3 Month(s)
Spammer 10 Never

I'm not going to bother formatting that... but as you can see the different infractions are worth different amounts, and whatever adds up to 10 gets you banned.

There is also the custom infraction, which is completely custom and up to the mod giving it.

That's all for a car forum, and I'm sure the structure here is at the very least slightly different.

Ah, I get it. That seems like a pretty good system actually. Well, except for the "talking back" part. Makes it seem like they person's parents are also on forum.

What post was that? I see the ones he put up on this thread. Yeah, they were a little inflammatory, but I wouldn't consider them eligible for the banhammer.
My first moderation was for saying a curse word, but I censored out 2 or 3 letters with symbols. Naturally, I got hit with "filter bypassing" or whatever it was.

#68, is the post they earmarked for the ban. I think he had previous infractions that amounted to mini "vacations".

I'm not sure what # gets you banned. I've got 4 reds and a yellow, in Nov-Feb(them darn trollurkers got my tea kettle whistlin') so I mind my P&Qs now. Never got a temp. ban for any, though.

It was the post that had the image of how STUPID someone is.

Apparently, the way it works around here is on a points system. It was not outlined to what the system was except to say that I got 10 points for the comment and at 100 points you are out for good. As a veteran member I was told I know better. I asked if I get time off for good behavior (points back) but got no reply.

I still stand by the statement.

Oh ok, I see it now. I don't know how I missed that red square on his post near the bottom.
I can understand why he'd get an infraction over that comment (I'm unsure if it had a picture attached, must've missed it), but I don't think that he deserved the death penalty for it.

So anyway, I think it's safe to say that the update is coming, even if we do consider it late...rather than shelved and never coming as Jerry suspects.

Android 4.0 Update Frequently Asked Questions

It's gonna be scheduled for July 31st. Notice the part up top about taking 45 days for a rollout to reach you because of the carriers. Well, that's gonna happen too. We'll have this in September.
And this is being optimistic.

Hard to argue with that logic, especially considering previous HTC / Verizon update debacles.

Hey the good news? More leaks to flash!

Yeah, good news only applies if they are as bug free as can be, though. I'll say one thing, these candidate leaks have been shockingly well behaved. It's funny to see articles on every other VZ phone stating, ota fixes(multiple on Motos) are still inbound on the oem units still, as they get their ICS candidates. Even the stock Rezound almost seems like an anomoly in many ways. You think VZ would push the hell out of a phone that doesn't have their reps tied up, post purchase.

Thats very odd to me. Not bad, just different. Im used to forums with no filters what so ever and you can say whatever you want as long as you are not a jerk. I thought filter systems were to avoid having to take mod man power at all and filtering words yourself was fine. Apparently political correctness is not completely dead on the internet lol:p

"Sony confirms ICS not coming to Xperia Play"
We rez owners sympathize and hope we're not next.

Unofficially, the Xperia play has ICS available to anyone willing to flash it so news for them isn't all that bad. Barring catastrophe and/or the Mayans being correct on 12/22, the Rez will get an official OTA for ICS before the end of the year. There's no viable reason, they never seem to need one in the past though, it would be held off past Labor day. I just don't see them failing to release outside of their current timetable. The latest candidate 3.13.605.7, fixed some of the pithy problems 605.5 had. I think the only thing really tying it up the Rez. revolves around the terms "global" and the recent announcement of the 4 late bloomers.

P.S. How did I get posted before SJ submission, that's twilight zone-ish?

Exactly! I've been running the latest leak now for a few weeks and it's incredible... The only bug I've had an issue with was in the stock email client. At times I would download the complete HTML file complete with an image attachment / then after closing the email and re-opening it the image was gone and could not be re-downloaded. No big deal, just using K9 for now instead.

This is a really good release and I'm tempted to not even take the OTA if they take out the ability to disable the bloat. Right now I'm bloat free on stock, unrooted and as Cosmo say's.... "I'm luuuving it!"
