The OTA downloaded automatically but it has not installed. I have done a restart and a shutdown / battery pull. Anyone know how to force it?
Damn red triangle with an exclamation point keeps showing when the phone reboots after downloading the firmware. Here goes try #2. I suspect this has to do with me obliterating all bloatware. Will update later.
Update: Green recycle arrows appeared. A third into the installing process, another red triangle. Hmm.
Update 2: Apparently, this OTA seems to break root. So beware to those that install the update.
Update 3: Son. Of. A. B*tch. I'm only getting 3G after just attempting to install the update. After browsing XDA, it seems I'm not the only one.
Update 4: Two reboots, and I have 4G again. Lesson Learned. No more OTA's for me.
You should've known a headache would ensue for your troubles. Beware of the dark side, Jedi.
Temp rooted. All bloat is gone. OTA came downloaded it 3 restarts and no change. Do I have to factory reset to get the update?
You'd have to re-lock and restore bloat. Possibly use RUU.
Would it be worth it? Depends on how you feel about factory resets.
I wanted the 5 bar signal icon. Those look pretty bad ass.
Also, I've had a few random reboots, and this OTA supposedly fixes that issue, according to Verizon.
Oh well.
Definitely not worth losing root over. I don't recall an OTA breaking root on the OG Droid, but then again I only had 2 of those.
you could use titanium backup to backup user apps and data, at least that way you don't lose app data, and it does save some time. You'd have to re-lock and restore bloat. Possibly use RUU.
