Rezound vs Galaxy Nexus

I dunno. To each their own should be the motto, but perhaps some people like to identify themselves by their hardware. It's all well and good when discussing technical points and not cross-talking and misunderstanding each other, but in the end it comes down to preference and that's the bottom line.
There are people on here who need to relax and realize that someone disagreeing with them about their phone is not a personal attack on them, heh heh. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and obviously opinions will be expressed on a forum like this.

What was this thread about anyway? Last 10 pages were a couple of yahoos arguing about something or another
The name of the thread is "Rezound vs Galaxy Nexus". The yahoos are arguing about the Rezound Vs Galaxy Nexus. The last 10 pages are therefore on topic.

I think it's a side effect of consumerism in society. For so long now we've been exposed to the idea that if you don't have 'X' brand then you're not socially acceptable.

Thats the irony...to non-tech nerds any of these phones will "ooo" and "ahh" people. They all look impressive.

I told my sister when she got her Fascinate how I envied her for it because it has such a great screen. She didnt understand why I thought it looked better than my Droid's. I had to explain to her how it was Super AMOLED and why it looked better, LOL.

I am not economically viable :) sorry movie quote from Falling Down with Michael Douglas.

I don't have an Iphone, but even if I did I wouldn't be socially acceptable lol.

I got my Rezound today. And I love it.

Cam from having the original iPhone for 3 years to this. Very happy.

I am sure I would have been very happy with a Nexus also.

Curse both these phones!
Today I am eligible for an upgrade. I have gone and looked at both these phones several times and played with both of them. I love them both. I have no idea which one I want.

LOL, yeah,. thats why HTC is allowing bootloaders to be unlocked now. Because they dont care what tech nerds think, right? LOL!

The average person obviously does not care if their bootloader is unlocked. So why are they doing it if not for the benefit of tech nerds? Yes, manufacturers care.

I suppose it is a good thing for them that HTC is producing the product that Samsung wont or cant.

I was actually referring to Google. They could care less. If you notice they don't want SD cards in stuff. Google gets paid either way. They're both great phones though.

Returned my SGN today, picked up a Rezound. I tried and tried to make up excuses to keep my GNEX. The phone design was beatufiul I really like it and some of new options from ICS are really useful. I love HTC, never had one by them but always though the UI was "cool", some say it's too much I think it's eye catching. I thought ICS was really well put together, just too plain for me, I left wanting more, not satisfied. The GNEX had a few hardware problems that shouldn't require you to d/l a 3rd party application to fix, haven't found to many problems with my Rezound, only have had it for a few hours though. My buttons do look "pink" instead of red, don't know if thats with everyone or not? No dropped calls yet on the Rezound, but not enough calls yet. The sound on the Rezound is a huge difference.

I've also been complaining about the GNEX being slow. I've took speed tests every day on the phone for a week, different locations, etc. I can tell you that the Rezound gets better LTE speeds for me, but barely! I'm talking 1-3mbps more. I still get two 4G bars, just as I had on my GNEX. So I don't see a big difference in the 4G department. Once I root and remove all the bloat I'll compare phone speeds. I wish the GNEX has the Rezounds hardware and I'd be set. I don't see you really going wrong with either phone. I think they are the best 2 phones on VZW right now, no one is really ahead of the other. When I got my GNEX after 2 days with it I got bored, I just feel that Rezound has more options, it's more of an entertainment/personal device to me hence the GNEX seemed more of a phone put out for the hacker/development user.

I've been hemming and hawing a lot lately about whether to return my Nexus for a Rezound. Last night I was convinced that I was going to do it. Went to a store today all ready to exchange, but spent a good 30 minutes playing with the Rezound first. I'm just not convinced I could live with it. Its got a better camera and a better radio, but coming from ICS back to Sense would be painful. All the nice little design nuances of ICS have hamfisted equivalents in GB, and its really really noticeable. I spoke with a rep briefly, and when I described the issues I was having he acted like he had clearly heard them before. I ended up walking out without exchanging the phone, because I'm not convinced yet. It didn't help that all the LTE phones were having issues with 4G connectivity (probably lingering issues from yesterday), so they were all getting the same speeds.

Now I'm still not sure what I'll do. I had a Nexus S last year, exchanged it for a Mytouch 4g and regretted it immensely. I don't want to get into that same situation. I'll keep my fingers crossed that Verizon actually understands what the radio's issues are and can fix them, and enjoy ICS otherwise. If Verizon can't, for some reason, at least we'll have some options post CES and in the spring that I could sell the Nexus for and buy.

If worse comes to worse, I'll just jump ship to AT&T since I'm in one of their LTE markets. (doubtful though)

You exchanged a Nexus S for a MyTouch?! How dare you! Trust me, keep the Nexus!

Mainly over the MyTouch's faster radios. But, after using it, the speeds on both were identical. (the Nexus S was literally maxing out its radio thanks to the HSPA21 in my area) I just know my patterns and likes, and I have a strong feeling I would regret the exchange almost immediately.

Ditto for me.

That was my concern as well. But after playing with the Rezound for a good hour, I found I actually preferred Sense over ICS. And although I've always felt the Gnex has a very nice display, side-by-side with the Rezound, I can definitely see the oversaturation and cartoonish look of the Gnex. The Rezound also has a far better camera. My Gnex has yet to take a well-focused picture, and focus is about the only thing these days that can't be fixed in post-processing.

The only reasons I didn't pull the trigger on the Rezound (yet):

1) I'm worried about being able to see the Rezound's LCD display outdoors. I've seen very little confirmation or denial on this issue. Can any of you guys help me out? How well can you use it outside? On a sunny day? As a device? As a camera?

2) In-store speed test. 4G speeds were nearly identical. But in CDMA-only, my Nexus showed -85dB, indicated "3G" with 3 bars, and pulled 370kb/s down. The Rezound showed -75dB, but indicated "1XRTT" with 4 bars, and pulled only 120kb/s down. Can anyone offer me an explanation of this difference? What's the difference here between "3G" and "1XRTT"?

3) I was told by the (seemingly inept) VZW rep that if I exchanged for the Rezound, I'd have no further options if I didn't like it. He said that if I instead returned the Gnex, then waited 30 days before buying the Rezound, my return option would be restored. I'm not sure I believe him. Can anyone confirm or deny this? I'll head over to another VZW store today to see what they say.
