Rezound vs Galaxy Nexus

I am upgrading from the original Moto Droid

I have no preference of brand, just features. My original droid only had about 200 mb of phone storage space and I could not load any new apps or even do updates without the low space warning. When the rezound came out, I could not find anyone with a working device I could play with. I read the specs on both and they seem close enough that either would be fine. I purchased the GN the day it came out so I don't have a lot of time on it. Number one to me it is a phone. If it doesn't get a good signal, or the battery doesn't last I can't use it. The 4G is known to drain more battery, that is fine as long as they offer a battery that is large enough to offset this. The GN only offers a slightly larger extended battery, if they offered about double the size like the rezound I would feel better about the GN. My signal level seems lower than I think it should be. In the settings under signal level I have been in the middle of the city with -119. I travel to a lot of out of the way places and need a phone with good reception. I am hoping the rezound has better reception. I know it has twice the extended battery available. I will probably go to the rezound if I can't get good reception or the battery doesn't last. I know there will be a few early tweeks via updates and I have until mid Jan to exchange it. If signal and battery life don't improve it looks like I may trade in my GN for a rezound.

GN - ICS is good, I like the interface.

GN has 32GB of combined storage, which means if you wanted to load 32 GB of apps you could. As I found out on my OG, most apps will not install to external storage, so the rezound actually has half the usable app room, but should be plenty large. I do like the idea of being able to put a large external storage chip in. If I actually dropped my GN phone and broke it beyond it being able to boot as a drive and retrieve my data, that would be bad. The rezound I feel I could peel off the peices of phone, retrieve my memory card and load it up into a usb reader to retrieve my data. If I stay with the GN I will just have to back up more often. If you somehow use the cloud to store your things that might be a safety measure too.

I like being able to bump my GN phone with another and share an app, web site, etc. I also like the idea of being able to use the NFC for transactions.

4G is fast, probably so on all 4G phones but I had no problems on GN pulling 15mb speeds with a good signal.

GN signal seems weak in many locations but I need to do more testing.

The GN speaker sounds low end, even compared to my OG Droid. I tested the rezound in the store and the sound seemed much better. I find myself many times with spare time waiting for something, and it is nice to have a video collection or audio collection to watch and listen to. My OG droid did fine with this, I thought the GN would sound better.

The GN camera seems to not be real clear, especially when taking a photo into any light. I know you normally don't shoot into light, but I tested the rezound at the Verizon store and the GN side by side. The photo I took of the front of the store had white light washing everything out with the GN, the rezound actually looked very clear even when I zoomed in on the photo I had taken I could see the people with no glare. Some say it is a phone and they will bring a real camera for pics, but I rarely have my camera available when I see something I want to photograph. I have a nice digital SLR, a good point and shoot camera, and I take most photo's with my phone because that is what I have with me when the photo presents itself.

I also came from an OG DROID and managing the tiny internal memory of that phone was a neverending job. My Rezound seems so low maintenance in comparison. :p

I am like everyone else here trying to discern which phone is better, the Rezound or GN. For me when I compared them, IMO I found the RZ to have a better, cleaner, sharper screen. I think the RZ camera is fast, with maybe the slightest of lag. Its definitely not as fast as the GN camera, which is amazingly fast. I like that the RZ has the microSD slot. When I played with the GN, I felt that ICS has a definite learning curve. Since I was coming from a DInc, the RZ definitely felt more comfortable and user friendly. Ultimately, when I compared the two phones, I just felt the RZ has a better build quality than the GN. But this is just my opinion. Like everyone else I waited a long time to check out the GN, but I was disappointed with it. I walked out with the RZ and am very happy I did.

Agree with your thoughts.

I don't know if I'd go that far. Both phones are amazing devices, and both devices have their flaws. It all boils down to what are you willing to put up with. If you narrow your choice down to one of these two phones, I really don't think you can make a wrong decision.

Had the Nexus been delayed again, I was walking out of the Verizon store with a Rezound, and I would have been just fine with that.

This. I would have walked away with a rezound happily if the nexus didn't exist. Both devices are splended. I like that Google has moved away from static buttons. Very minimal and clean.

I still prefer the rezound.. It going be intresting see what android die hards dump the galaxy nexus once ics comes to the rezound

According to lots of tests done online the Razor is a good phone that actually out performs the GN and the Rezound in several area's. The one show stopper for me was the non removable battery. I have on a few occasions had to remove my battery on my OG droid to reboot it after it locked up. Hopefully this Razor has no bug where it will not need this action and will work fine. It does have some impressive numbers on benchmark tests that have compared the GN - Rezound - and the Razor. That's the great thing about Android, lots of choices for different needs. I hope your razor rocks for you until your next upgrade.

The answer will be zero.
I did go Back and forth between this and the nexus but there are more devices coming out that it would be silly to purchase an older device. If ics comes out in March for the rezoundand the price drops, and I can see people due for an upgrade purchase it. I got 150.00 off any 4g device so I went with the nexus. Again the rezound is solid, but there devices being pumped out monthly it seems which will make the rezound outdated but solid device.
Not that there is anything wrong with that because my dinc still works as well as the day I bought it.

Choices are always a good thing. Alot of it boils down to what people get use to. Pros and cons can often be overlooked if the look and feel of a phone is most important. All depends on the individual.

Even more pleased with the Rezound now after hearing about the Galaxy Nexus "signal issue." :(

Hi - I went to the VZN store today and the thing I didn't like about the Rezound is how reflective the screen was. It was like a mirror to me when the light was shining on it from above.

What are your thoughts about using this phone outside in bright sunshine?

How much does an anti-glare protector reduce the brightness of the screen?

I got a Nexus, but had a Rezound previously, and now I'm reconsidering. The signal is much weaker at my house, and its very off-putting. I've even considering hopping over to AT&T and the LG Nitro, because I'm in an LTE market and their coverage is pretty good here.

Unless, it's annoying the heck out of you, sit tight. They've got a fix in the works, granted there's no ETA on it but it's now the top priority fix on the GN. I haven't been following the VGN forum for the past week. Is it really that bad?

The Rezound isn't bad at all in direct sunlight with the exception of taking photos. I found it very difficult trying to view what I was taking a picture of when there was too much sunlight. Don't know about an anti glare screen protector because I only used a clear one. However, I would imagine this would help some as I use one on my iPhone 4 and it does keep the glare down quite a bit.

Unless something changed they only give you one return. If you had the Zound and traded it once sent you done. GL on that update.

I hate those darn anti-glare protectors, put one on my DX for about 2 minutes, before it was in the trash. It really skewed the screen under indirect lighting. I'm not sure what it would do the the Rezounds screen but I don't wanna find out. I agree w/ you on the Rezound screen in a glare situation. Never had any issues w/ it nude, or using a clear protector, that I can recall.

Previous purchase that was a straight return. And it was full price.

It's awful. Speeds are, at best, 50% slower than on the rezound. The new radios leaked tonight, so before I do anything I may root and flash those and see if they fix it.

That's not bad, i'm hitting 44mbps max in an urban area in the late afternoon /early evening. If you get 22mbps, then that's pretty decent. I never broke 30mbps on my tb.

Well, 50% difference at home for me is 5-7 down and 1-3 up. Its a huge difference.
