Rezound vs Galaxy Nexus

Yep it doesn't extend your 15 day window.
Otherwise people would be exchanging phones all the time.

The cs reps never put the notes in the right place in the system. It took me 11 different reps to get the note to stay on my account when I bought my nexus.

What notes were applied to your account? Nexus related?

I think you're all correct about the one-time exchange. They reinforced it to me at the store once again in no uncertain terms. I decided to pull the trigger anyway and returned the Nexus for the Rezound. It may be too early to tell, but at this point I think that may have been a huge mistake.

So far I've had worse signal troubles with the Rezound than with the Nexus (FWIW, my wife's Bionic does not exhibit these signal troubles). Last night I left the house with a fully charged battery at 700pm, and by the time I got home at 100am, the battery indicator was in the yellow. My usage during that time was very light. Now this morning, everytime I connect the phone to my PC via USB, the entire PC locks up until I disconnect the phone. I have no trouble mounting other USB (or MTP) devices.

Any ideas?

My guess would be either a rogue app or you may have been in a fringe area. My wife's Rezound seems very solid. While you may not be able to go back to the Nexus, you can force Verizon to keep swapping out the Rezound until you get a good one, if it is indeed bad.

Calling Verizon's 800 number turned out to be excellent advice. The woman on the line was very helpful and indicated that even if I exchange for a new device, I'll get a new 14-day return/exchange window. She further stated they'll keep allowing exchanges (each new device gets a new 14-day window) until I settle on a device that makes me happy. She also notated this verbage on my account.

So today I'm off to exchange my Nexus for a Rezound. I'll post my impressions afterward. Thanks to everyone for all the help so far.

Did you happen to get her contact information? If so, harass her into giving you a Nexus.

Well I think my signal woes may be due to selecting "Normal" power mode when I was playing around yesterday afternoon. I'm reading now that doing so may disable 4G (although I did have intermittent 4G, which wouldn't make sense if 4G were disabled). Obviously I'll be doing more testing today. I'm not sure what to think of the USB lockup. I'll try reseating my cards to see if that makes a difference.

That is definitely not normal, and I have experienced none of that. I dont think any of that is likely to be related to the Rezound's design or hardware in general...You might have just gotten a bad phone. I have not had USB issues on my Vista system with the Rezound, even though I have had USB issues with other stuff (like my removable HD).

The reason I dont think thats the case with the GN is because so many people are reporting the same issues everywhere.

Yeah that is not my experience either. My Rezound connects to my Windows 7 pc without any problems. And my battery life is really pretty good. I stay on 4G and can go about 15 hours with moderate use.

After I downloaded the HTC drivers and rebooted, the USB problem went away.

I've been attached to the PC all day so I haven't had a chance to test the battery any further.

I personally like Sense but if you unlock and root, you can use use Titanium Backup to uninstall Sense.

That's booooooogus. I would call for a second opinion on that right away before I tried it. Believe me if they don't do it on dumb phones they sure as heck aren't going to on a $700+ smart phone. Been down this road, I know. And while having something documented may help in some cases Big Red has been tightening their polices and I would be really surprised if they honor that.

I'd suggest you email or use online chat to verify this, and keep a record of the confirmation. My guess would be that the csr is blowing smoke up your ass. But if you get it in writing, then it would be proof. I highly doubt that anyone will give this to you in writing though.

I doubt that HTC will get rid of sense.
Unfortunately this is probably true. They are not content to rely on their hardware and have to invent other reasons to want their phones.

The guys on the AC Podcast always defend Vendor UIs and it always irritates me. Fine...you guys like sense. That still doesnt explain why it has to be imposed on the end user. "OMG, that is the whole point of buying HTC" they say. Bull ...I bought HTC because I liked the hardware, not because of their stupid resource hogging UI. Yes AC-podcast-people, I understand the Engineers worked really REALLY hard on it. But I am not buying the phone to make the Engineers feel better about themselves. I am paying for a product and it annoys me when the vendor is bossing me around for no good reason. I never asked for this superfluous pollution on my Android phone.

The fact that they dont give you an option not to use it really says all that needs to be said. How would it look if everyone who bought their phones immediately uninstalled their precious Sense UI?

I never knew so many people hated Sense. What is it that you really don't like? Is it slowing down your super fast phone? It has too many features and options? It's ugly? I guess I really don't get it. I mean it could be Moto Blur.

Maybe they should have gave us a choice. I definitely won't argue with that. Just like all the bloatware we're force fed. I don't want, like or use FB, Twitter, NFL whatever, and all the VZ this and thats. I sure wish I had had a choice in those taking up room on my phone. Oh that's right I did and now they don't, and I don't have to complain. We have temp root and unlocked bootloaders? Just shut it down and move on.

just that I demanded the midwest region discount so I got the nexus for 150.
Could have gotten the rezound for 150 as well.

They actually had noted that customer refused to back down from requesting discount lol.
Had to get a new nexus today. Screen died last night on the old one. Wouldn't respond to hand gestures.

well one person told me no, but I said others got it in my area.
I called twice and the second person approved it.
However she noted it wrong so I had to call so many times.
Then the second person to approve it never called me back and I had to actually go through it again.
8 cs reps and 3 supervisors later lol

I went for the Nexus although i almost went for the rezound. One thing i really like about ICS is the ability to sync directly with exchange. I dont see many people talking about this feature but coming from BB i can tell you it works rather well i dont know if the rezound has this capability. My biggest complaints are the lousy battery life and the borderline reception. I was in a fringe area with someone who had a razr and honestly they had a more consistent signal however we both had to use GSM and 3g. I plan on carrying a pocket full of charged batteries if i dont take this sucker back.

I love the Rezound, took my Nexus back a few days ago. But what are the chances that I can get a Rezound with actual "red" buttons, I hate this pink crap. Going to try and return my phone tomorrow for a new one. They have to swap them right until I get a correct one? They cant just say oh well its suppose to be pink when the display phone is red? I just cant carry a pink phone around, especially a $600 phone. Any ideas?
